Pryor will play in the preseason finale

Terrelle Pryor AP

Rookie quarterback Terrelle Pryor, who is suited up in silver and black game gear for the first game, won’t play on Sunday night against the Saints, on NBC.

But Michele Tafoya of Sunday Night Football reports that Pryor will play on Thursday night, when the Raiders wrap up the preseason against the Seahawks.

Coach Hue Jackson also told Tafoya that Pryor will be a quarterback, for now.  “We’re gonna start there first and see where we go,” Jackson said.

After the preseason ends, Pryor’s five-game suspension will begin.

Can he play corner? Because apparantly we don’t have anyone that can.

Pryor knows these early season games don’t really count anyway – he’s just hoping to get a few more tats this year, driver 8 to 10 hot new sports cars, beat Michigan, and get back to the Rose Bowl. Who are the Raiders playing anyway the first five games? They won’t need him against teams like Ball State, Miami of Ohio, Toledo, Slippery Rock, or Youngstown State.

After the final preseason game all game-worn item and Raiders memorabilia of Pryor’s will promptly be auctioned on E-Bay.

When are the Raiders going to stop drafting QBs when they clearly have no clue how to develop them? The Raiders should be Baltimore West – awesome defense and an offense that doesn’t make mistakes. Which screams veteran QB.

Maybe Pryor could help the defense out; they are getting shredded by New Orleans.

raiders will get another 3rd round compensatory pick for nnamdi, zack miller and gallery leaving. it’s a no risk 3rd round pick for TP. it doesn’t matter if it doesn’t pan out at QB, they can try him at severyal other positions

gotta love all of the predictably cynical drive-by remarks by the wannabe comedians on here. the ‘Daily Show’ generation morons.

Pryor’s in the N.F.L. and you are not.

Anyone that is 6’5”/6’6” 240 + and runs a 4.3 gets my respect as a football player — they will find a position for that ability… + he’s hard worker who’s determined to win

I’ve seen a few places that said the Raiders vs. Seahawks game is on Thursday. Raiders.com and NFL.com show the game as a Friday game though…which day is the game?

  19. buffordtjustice says: Aug 28, 2011 9:35 PM

Why would the Raiders get anything compensatory for Nnamdi, they released him?

How many teams showed up for his “pro day”? 17? Davis gets mocked for his speed fetish, and it is deserved-I’m talking to you, Hayward-Bey-Van-Dyke-but a 3rd for Pryor isn’t a large gamble.

  21. bigdan7885 says: Aug 28, 2011 9:50 PM

An absolute travesty he is suspended for that many games. Players have ended lives and gotten less of a punishment. What does that tell us?

He wasn’t released, his contract had a clause making him a free agent, so they’d get a pick like any team losing a FA in the same fashion.

  23. Chairman Al says: Aug 28, 2011 9:51 PM

Oh, and Taiwan Jones? Learn his name well.

  24. trickybastard says: Aug 28, 2011 9:53 PM

raiders didn’t release nnamdi. free agent

  25. trickybastard says: Aug 28, 2011 9:55 PM

speaking of speed fetish, taiwan jones could be our best RB.

our top 3 RBs are scary. this after being the #2 rushing team last year

  26. nomoreseasontix says: Aug 28, 2011 10:26 PM

Raider fan here. If they don’t get the secondary up to speed, it’s gonna be a 4-12 season this year.

And yes, I know Johnson is hurt. He sucks anyway. shouldn’t be any more than a dime.

    Long year ahead, I’m afraid.

  27. meeky1985 says: Aug 28, 2011 10:36 PM

The Raiders running game will win us a lot of games.. that is if our Dbs can slow the passing down

    Ohio State Sucks!

  29. skyleralan says: Aug 28, 2011 10:54 PM

    @nomoreseasontix,

I agree. The whole defense looks terrible. No pressure, which doesn’t help the secondary any! Could be a very frustrating season b/c Campbell will always hold the offense back with his slow release.

  30. marcsasharc says: Aug 28, 2011 10:54 PM

ya because the NFL relies on the run game to win games. sheesh.

  31. lexnekst says: Aug 28, 2011 10:55 PM

Why does everyone assume he can’t learn, and improve his accuracy – but assume Tebow can?

You can pretty much get into UF with a vouch from a buddy.

  32. Chairman Al says: Aug 28, 2011 10:57 PM

My last words on this game:

    -Drew Brees was on.
-The CBs are dangerously weak for OAK.
    -Jano is primed.
-Campbell looked solid and had poise in the pocket.
-Derek Hagan needs to make the team.
    -Taiwan Jones is nasty.
-The Oak scrubs (looking at you, Trent Edwards) suck.
    - I’m about done with Nick Miller. I loved his scrappy story, but he’s not doing much, and trying way too hard to make things happen.

  33. lexnekst says: Aug 28, 2011 10:57 PM

Terrelle Pryor has more talent is his auctioned off jersey, than Tim Tebow could ever pray for.

  34. slightlyhyphy says: Aug 28, 2011 11:01 PM

Taiwan Jones looks like Chris Johnson when he came into the league. He isn’t just a speed demon, he seems to have superior agility. His side to side jukes look lethal. I’m really excited about this guy!

  35. anhdazman says: Aug 28, 2011 11:07 PM

The dirt infield has to do with home field advantage. Don’t you guys know we have a track team in Oakland? Don’t blink, we’ll fly by you.
Oakland’s 1st string players stayed right in there with the Saints, SF and Arizona, I’m not concerned about our starters.
Injuries and back up are the issues. Oakland have too many inexperience LBs and CBs. A bunch of high priced LBs and CBs from other teams will be available within the next two weeks.

  36. tluke25 says: Aug 28, 2011 11:10 PM

From that particular quote by Hue Jackson it almost sounds like the drafted him to be a WR, but they’re gonna trick him into thinking they brought him there to play QB.

  37. war27 says: Aug 28, 2011 11:15 PM

Hagan needs to do more then just make the team, he needs to start or at the bare minimum play 50% of the snaps.

He’s the best Raider receiver. Maybe not the most talented, fastest or athletic but he’s the most solid guy there right now.

Honestly, no one assumes Tebow can. now i think both Pryor and Tebow can improve and be good players. you wont hear from Pryor this year, missing all that time isnt going to help.

    i live in ohio.
i wish this kid only the best.
    really.
what he did with the tattoos was stupid… but Tressel dug his own grave by lying about it.
by the way… nobody has ever said how much gear that tattoo guy has. if he has a truckload then ohio state should get whacked or charge the players with theft.
    go TP go.
You CAN QB in the nfl. I have no doubt. NONE.
Raiders did a great job getting him.

  44. nycoccet says: Aug 29, 2011 1:20 AM

To say there’s no risk using a 3rd round pick and it not working is nuts. Teams are built on draft picks and the raiders better hope they improve bc they re not going to have much help in next draft they’re missing picks in rds,2,3,4,5. Not saying TPryor isn’t worth it or its a bad pick but theirs a lot of risk. A 3rd pick should start within 2-3yrs at the latest.

  45. thermalito says: Aug 29, 2011 3:38 AM

If Pryor was white and an obnoxious loudmouth christian mythologist he might have been able to find someone dumb enough to spend a first round pick on him ala Tim Tebow.

  46. akulabug says: Aug 29, 2011 7:57 AM

Been in camp less than a week. Hasn’t played ball in 3/4 of a year. Knows nothing of NFL defences.

Sure put him in…..should bring him back down to earth. He can then invest every penny of that signing bonus that he got.

While I generally agree with the sentiment, it’s not likely that another Josh McDumbass exists in the NFL head coaching ranks…

Now at the owner / GM level, I can think of two – The Crypt Keeper and his little brother AKA Jerruh – who might be stupid enough to overreach in the draft!

  48. tatum064 says: Aug 29, 2011 8:36 AM

    You’ve just been “T.P.’d”

Should be good for a few first downs via gadget plays. If the running game is really working this could be an interesting team – they still need a no.1 corner, an enforcer at safeties…”less bling, more sting”

The speed could work, if they know how to use it.
