Wes Welker says he’s OK

The neck injury that knocked Patriots receiver Wes Welker out of Saturday night’s game was not serious.

I’m OK,” Welker said as he walked out of the locker room after the game, per Ian R. Rapoport of the Boston Herald.

Welker got hurt while tackling Lions safety Ricardo Silva, who had intercepted a Tom Brady pass intended for Chad Ochocinco. The play was one of many on which everything seemed to be going wrong for the Patriots in their 34-10 loss.

Brady said he was confident Welker would shake it off quickly.

“He’s a tough guy,” Brady said. “There’s nobody tougher than Wes Welker. He’s mentally, physically, he’s as good as there is.”

  1. He is probably fine. With a neck stinger like that it’s better to err on the side of caution and take him out of the game.

  2. gdeli, can’t speak for other teams but on the Pats this isn’t about macho. You could have a limb severed and you BETTER say “I’m ok”. You will then be listed as “day to day” with an issue “somewhere on your person”. Pats fans know that we may either be reading the guy’s obit in the coming weeks , or he will return to practice the next day.

Unless, you know, you get your ACL blown out during the first game of the season. Roffle.

  4. Wes Welker is an important part of my fantasy football draft strategy. He’s usually my second WR taken. If he’s injured this year so will be my fantasy football season

  5. Hope Wes will be ok. Im a Jets fan but I admire the hell out of Welker…hes a stand-up guy on and off the field. What does the Dr. say? All players are told to say ..”Im ok”..Take care Wes.

  6. I hope he is fine it was a hard hitting game the Lions was hitting hard it was a great game for Detroit they did it all THE DISASSEMBLE LINE what a team the Pats had no answer they have to get better to beat the Jets.

  7. Who cares about Wes Welker? As long as Tom Brady is OK so he can model more watches, that’s all that matters.

“How is Tom Brady’s hair? I think I saw it get messed up at one point.”

Don’t worry, Giselle has it insured.

He says he is ok but what does the dr. say? I hate this macho male bs.

Seriously, guy, you DO know this is football, right?

How the hell did a soccer fan get in here?

….and you wish he was the QB of your team.

….and you wish you were banging Gisele.

  12. just add him to the list the players who will be listed as “questionable” on the injury report all season long

  13. Welker…. great player and another gift from the hapless Dolphins management who had him in his prime and dealt him…..

  14. @ tsimpson50;
Thats original!…did it take you a long time to come up with that one?…Cant stand when someone beats the hell out of an OLD topic. Come up with something new will ya!…Loser.

My God!!! How would he run?!!

  16. Im actaully pretty happy to have Matt at qb.. I love Bradys game but a healthy Stafford will pick apart defenses and win games, also he’s like 7 years younger. but patriot fans have the edge, Bradys got the nicer hair……

  17. There is not much I like about the Patriots.

Wes Welker is probably the lone exception. He is a tough hard working player who never speaks out of line or appears on police reports. I am glad his injury doesn’t appear to be serious.

That being said, where was the flag for leading with his helmet?

Roger? Roger are you out there?
Are you reviewing the play and getting ready to issue the fine?

Oh,my bad, it was the Patriots. What was I thinking?
