Proper use? If you think using Hgh for performance enhancement constitutes proper use in a healthy adult you are sadly mistaken. Proper use of this hormone is for individuals with severe problems with their pituitary gland…meaning its functioning little or not at all. Prescribing it to injured players is not a good idea if that player is otherwise a healthy individual. It amazes me how many people make blanket statements about this stuff when they actually know nothing about it.

=================

Please show me the part of my comment where I said performance enhancement is a proper use of HGH.

In fact, my comment specifically states it will not enhance performance.

It amazes me how people make self righteous blow-hardy blanket proclamations about another person without even understanding what they said.

--------------------------------------------------

So you think giving Hgh to an injured player is a proper use for it? Do you realize it can cause further swelling and inflammation which is counter productive to healing? Not to mention the fact that it stimulates cell growth...what happens when cells grow out of control? They form tumors which require surgery to remove which is again counter productive to a fast recovery. The human body requires time to heal and injecting someone with a growth hormone to get them on the field faster not only makes no sense it is counter productive to the desired effect. Saying it is medicinal and should be allowed in any other case than a natural deficiency is just plain stupid and a cover for using it for enhancement purposes.

@kibawib

Why does Clay Matthews always get dragged into this? The guy’s father and uncle had very long and productive NFL careers and now his brother is in the NFL too. Is it so hard to believe that he has the genetics to be a solid NFL player?

duece5 says;

Maybe it's because he gained approximately 80 pounds of muscle between his junior year in high school-listed at 161 pounds, and then in 2008, USC has him for 246. He and Cushing were buds....hmmm...we know Cushing had NOTHING to do with HGH......sure he has a good pedigree, but there are many signs, especially his quick muscle mass, his bulging head, etc. that point to him using something, more than likely, HGH.

Put another way, if your life depended on you making the right bet that he was or wasn't on some sort of drug or HGH, what would you choose? My guess is most, except for BLIND followers like yourself, would surmise that the dude is roided up.

=================

Please show me the part of my comment where I said performance enhancement is a proper use of HGH.

In fact, my comment specifically states it will not enhance performance.

It amazes me how people make self righteous blow-hardy blanket proclamations about another person without even understanding what they said.

castleofcheese–Why does Clay Matthews always get dragged into this?”–Here’s why: “As a junior at Agoura High, Matthews was 6-1 and weighed about 165 pounds. By 2008, USC listed Matthews at 246. That’s 81 pounds of weight (muscle) on Matthews since a junior in high school (over 6 years). But while those gains aren’t unheard of from a college linemen, they are simply fantastic when you consider Matthews actually increased his speed and explosiveness–all while gaining 80 pounds of muscle.”
-------------
When i was a junior in high school, i was 6'4" 180. When I graduated college, I was 6'4" 230. I'm just a regular guy who finally started filling out and started spending some free time in the weight room. If I can do that, it is pretty conceivable to me that Clay, an elite athlete, receiving elite training at the highest level of college athletics, could put on that size.

Also, it is pretty well documented that his father and uncle both went through similar growth spurts. I suppose they were on HGH too?

HGH has no performance enhancing benefits until a person reaches an age where their body slows down natural production. There are no active NFL players at that age.

———————————–
Good point, but you’re forgetting about a lot of older players who would like to extend their careers, ie. Pat Williams, Jason Hanson, even maybe Brett. Pretty much anybody in their mid thirties would be a candidate for HGH.
=============================

I'm not forgetting about them. They wouldn't be candidates to have their careers lengthened by HGH.

In their late thirties (and in Hanson's case, 41) player's bodies are still producing all of the growth hormone their bodies can use (unless they are naturally deficient, in which case they never would have made it to the league).

A person's natural production of growth hormone doesn't decline on average until mid to late 40's.

And even if were proven that a player could extend his career with doctor prescribed HGH, what's so terrible about that?

The only possible benefit of HGH to a young player is injury recovery time.

There are no know side effects tied to proper use.

Not only shouldn’t the NFL test for HGH, it should be allowing team physicians to prescribe it to injured players.

When I hear that congress is getting involved with any facet of the sports world It just infuriates me!

Dear US Congress,

We the people would like for our elected officials to stay as far away from sports as physically and legally possible. Please, it’s bad enough you have destroyed our economic standing and embarrassed us globally. Is that not enough, must you stick your tainted hands onto OUR sports as well?

That being said, I have absolutely no problem with players using HGH. It’s medicine! Next players will be tested for Aspirin!

------------------------------------------------

HGH is not medicine it is a hormone. A hormone normally found in humans and animals yes, but the body naturally declines in production of this hormone as we grow and as we age. There is a reason for this. An over abundance of Hgh in the body can cause various types of cancer (including petuitary, colon, and prostate cancer), muscle weakness, and a decrease in insulin production resulting in type 2 diabeties. In a healthy person Hgh is not medicine by any means. In an unhealthy person it may be another story, but by unhealthy I'm talking about individuals who naturally do not produce enough of the hormone themselves (this is the exception and not the rule).

Who cares? They should just legalize steroids for professional athletes. It would make the whole situation a lot easier. No more testing. If you want to take them make sure you know what you are doing to yourself first and then take them. They are a human invention and should be used to increase human performance. Why do we continue to put ourselves at a disadvantage when we compete with Russians, Chinese, and others who are clearly using HGH and worse in things like the olympics. I think most people would say that HGH use and side effects are worth an NFL minimum contract for a few years. It increases it’s attractiveness when millions of dollars are on the line.

Who cares? Wow your intelligence is showing there moron. I will tell you who cares...the families and friends who have to sit around and watch as the side effects from this crap completely destroy the person who took them. They care when they have to put a family member in an early grave. The ones who don't use it care when some roid freak injures their loved one and ends a their carrier leaving them unemployed at best and crippled at worst. But you know who cares?

HGH has no performance enhancing benefits until a person reaches an age where their body slows down natural production. There are no active NFL players at that age.

Good point, but you're forgetting about a lot of older players who would like to extend their careers, ie. Pat Williams, Jason Hanson, even maybe Brett. Pretty much anybody in their mid thirties would be a candidate for HGH.

The only possible benefit of HGH to a young player is injury recovery time.

There are no know side effects tied to proper use.

Not only shouldn't the NFL test for HGH, it should be allowing team physicians to prescribe it to injured players.
