Vince Young suffers hamstring injury

Baltimore Ravens v Philadelphia Eagles Getty Images

Vince Young got the start at quarterback for the Eagles on Thursday night and played very well — until leaving the game with a hamstring injury.

Young, the man who first used the words “dream team” to describe the Eagles, suffered the injury when rolling out on an incomplete pass. He fell to the ground and then limped off the field, along the sideline and into the locker room.

Young had completed 15 of 23 passes for 193 yards and a touchdown against the second-string Jets defense. Both the Eagles and the Jets — like most teams around the NFL in Week 4 of the preseason — are resting most of their top players.

In the second half, Mike Kafka replaced Young at quarterback for the Eagles.

Greg McElroy, who got the start at quarterback for the Jets, also left the game with an injury after hurting his right thumb. Drew Willy took McElroy’s place.

“Young, the man who first used the words “dream team” to describe the Eagles…”

Thanks for spelling that out to the casual NFL fan that has been living under a rock, inside a cave, on the dark side of Mars for the past month.

VY gave us the quote “dream team” yet it is still the “dream team” without him…..Nothing from something is still something

A self described Dream Team will overcome this and win the Superbowl somehow. That’s what Dream Teams do. Even if the starting QB is injury prone as well. And irrefutably the Eagles are the Dream Team.

Too bad. Iggles fans are glad it was him and not Vick, or else there would be tons of crow served this year.

I feel cheated we didn’t see Jason Avant at emergency QB. I bet if Avant comes in at QB and gets hurt Wilson Valdez comes in.

    @ rabidmike

Wait, I thought the whole point of the fans being against the players in the lockout was that it didn’t matter what name is on the back of the jersey?

    Football is football, right?

VY started against scrubs and crushed them. Similar article about A Rod got praised. Not comparing the two at all but Young is no scruband he’ll have his chance to shine in a year or two after Reid makes him look like a quality QBa few times

Nice half VJ! heal up. I”m good with you as one of our backups , especially with what was out there after we traded Kev K. for our 3RD potential PB corner and a 2nd rounder! yea it was agains the scrubs, but he played well!

Drew Willy. If it was my dream team, the QB would have to be named Drew Willy.

the injury when it occured was odd in the sense that no one touched him it was like his leg gave out. hopefully he’s ok, but he gets time to heel and it’s not like he’s going to start so he’s in a good spot.

  27. kevinfromphilly says: Sep 2, 2011 9:26 AM

  29. touchdownroddywhite says: Sep 2, 2011 9:53 AM

@Jetfanforlife – Compared to how McNabb looks now, he sure did look like a star for a long time.
