Adrian Wilson expected to play in season opener

Bad news for Cam Newton: Cardinals safety Adrian Wilson is expected to play in Arizona’s season opener, a little more than a month after Wilson partially tore his biceps.

Wilson chose to rehab the injury instead of getting surgery and re-joined the team in practice a few weeks ago.

“Unless there is any kind of setback, yeah, I feel pretty good about [Wilson playing,” Ken Whisenhunt said Friday via the Cardinals’ official website.

Whisenhunt has to be thrilled his defensive leader will try to gut it out all season.  Whiz needs seven wins this year to become the Cardinals’ franchise leader wins.

Get eight or nine wins, and you may just win the NFC West.
