Getty ImagesThe Broncos lost a pair of important young reserve players on Thursday night, and one of them will miss the season.
Cornerback Syd’Quan Thompson, who played 13 games last year as a rookie, tore his Achilles according to the Denver Post. Third-round pick linebacker Nate Irving also left with a chest injury. It took Irving a while to get up and off the field.
As a side note, the Post reports the Broncos will not make any early cuts. Expect roster cuts to filter in slowly elsewhere Friday before Saturday’s deluge, but Denver plans to wait until Saturday to make all their moves.

Ah, you hate to see it. This guy was having an amazing camp.
Weirdest name I’ve ever seen. Syd’Quan. That poor kid must have had a heck of a time learning how to spell that in elementary school.
What is Syd’quan short for?
Again I have to ask, I wonder how many owners have torn their Achilles due to lack of offseason activity. Oh that’s right! None! Hooray, champagne for everyone!!!!!
Quick recoveries to all Denver’s injuries. All this before the season starts, too.
Tim Tebow.
I guess the majority of OTA’s is spent strengthening players’ Achilles. Oh well, I guess Perrish Cox is safe from the chopping block, for now.
Gonna miss Syd’Quan in Denver this year… Can’t afford to have anyone go down. Get well soon!
He has looked really good thud far. It sucks to see, just like Leshoure for the Lions. I just hope that they can learn while they are down, and return 110% for next season.
Damn, really sorry to see a guy like Syd’Quan go down. The guy plays extremely hard and was about to have a breakout year. Get well!
