The Vikings have started to make their roster cuts.

Stylez G. White and wide receiver Jaymar Johnson are among the early names, according to espn1500.com.  Johnson’s release may indicate cornerback Marcus Sherels won the punt return job.

Running back Tristan Davis, end David Akinniyi, guard Byron Isom, cornerback Devon Torrence and safety Ryan Hill were also waived.

  1. cutting Jaymar Johnson will be a very big regret by the vikings. he should have been the #4 receiver. i guarantee you the packers could make this guy a star if they even needed another receiver. Colts should pick this guy up. he has huge potential and the colts always seem to need another receiver with all their injuries.

  2. Sad to see Jaymar go, I hope he gets picked up elsewhere, and I’m guessing he will. It looks like a lot of these early release guys have good shots at getting picked up elsewhere, so the Vikings probably did them a favor by letting them go if they didn’t have a shot at making the roster.

A few names I’m glad I didn’t see based on their preseason.

    Allan Reisner
    Marcus Sherels

Man, I’m dying to know what the G. stands for in Stylez G. White.

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Stylez G. White (born Gregory Alphonso White, Jr. on July 25, 1979) is an American football defensive end for the Minnesota Vikings of the National Football League. He was drafted by the Houston Texans in the seventh round of the 2002 NFL Draft. He played college football at Minnesota.

On December 15, 2008, it was revealed that the Hillsborough County Circuit Court had approved White’s request to legally change his name from Gregory Alphonso White, Jr. to Stylez G. White.[2] According to White, the inspiration for the change came from a character in the 1985 Michael J. Fox film Teen Wolf.[2]

From Wikipedia so take it with a grain of salt!

    ___________

G stands for Greg, he was in the AFL with the Orlando Predators in which he played for Jay Gruden, Jay got him a tryout with his brother Jon in Tampa Bay and he had played there for a few years, it looks like he will back in the AFL next year.

  5. its the wk end, and the only time i really seem to care to post on here. could be the booze.

G probably stands for some name like Gregory or Gumby, some kinda middle name i’m thinking. probably Gumby though.

  6. But on a real not Jaymar could be a decent wide out down the roster. he’s been on our practice squad for a few yrs i think. He’s put in the time, just needs a shot. I hope its a good thing he didn’t make it cuz hopefully we have some decent wide outs that fill the top half of the roster. Not sure with B’twice up there. if he can show me he can go across the middle with out juggling the catch twice or just actually catching it i’ll be happy.

  7. Why are us vikings fans always in love with the 6th best wide out on the team? Everybody was enamored with Aundrae Allison the same way. Jaymar Johnson has done nothing to justify keeping him. Besides, how can we keep him on the roster and still stockpile retread Bears WRs??

  8. It has been a pretty happy problem this preseason for the Vikes. Too many good WR’s and too many good RB’s. I’d say I would have wanted to keep 6 of the 8 WR’s and 5 of all the RB’s. Maybe our defense is suspect but our offense has a TON of depth. I sure hope they figure out the O and D lines (And I REALLY hope they cut Brandon Burton).

  9. That’s what you get for having a name like “Stylez”. Sorry for the other guys though. Just can’t feel sorry for a guy with an ego like that.

  10. Hope to see Jaymar on another team . well see how BB works out after he gets hit in the mouth a few times don’t get me wrong I hope he very good this year but over the years he has not shown much , almost drop the ball on that TD pass. but what do i know I’d drop them all. May the Norse God Odin look favorably on the Vikings.

Hey rube, it is the first of the month. Don’t you have to cash your welfare check. Go be productive instead of a wart on the ass of this country. Pinhead!
