This is a case where the players lost big, factor in lawyer fees i just dont want to know how much, the emotional roller coasters and then to be hit with two games. Had they not contested, the 4 game checks would have been cheaper. Anyway hindsight is 20/20

I don’t know. The players, through all the publicity in the case, made sure that everyone knew that they didn’t take steroids, and that the substance they tested positive for wasn’t something they knowingly ingested. Maintaining there reputation seemed to be high on their list of objectives.

Also, they got to keep playing. Pat’s retiring, and so will never have to serve the suspension, and Kevin has a foot injury that might have kept him out anyways. The extra two weeks to heal will certainly serve him well when we get later in the season.

Depending on how they rank those items compared to the money lost, the players may feel as though they won in the long run.

To make matters worse, the NFL knew StarCaps contained an unlisted ingredient that it had banned, and did NOT tell the NFLPA about it.

But I guess its better that league office be allowed to fool itself into believing that they’re not hypocrites than to cause any damage to Roger Goodell’s delicate, precious ego.

He may have tested positive under the old CBA, but due to the timing of the court cases and whatnot, he’s being punished under the current CBA, which states that players testing positive for diuretics will be suspended for 2 games (as reported previously on PFT – http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/08/23/report-starcaps-suspensions-could-be-reduced/). Therefore, he is receiving full punishment. Actually, since he’s being fined for an additional two games, he’s receiving extra punishment.

In other words, get your facts straight before spewing your outrage. It does you no credit to be that wrong.

I think both the NFL and the players are to blame for what happen, but I’m not sure the penalty was fair for the players involved.

Get accused of breaking the law = 6 game suspension

Get accused of PED’s = 2 suspension

This goes to my entire point of uneven punishment. Player A makes a great hit and gets fined.
Player B makes the same great hit and not even a flag.
