Bobbie Williams suspended; Bo Scaife to I.R. for Bengals

The Bengals have reduced their roster to 53, but the biggest news from the team Saturday did not include cuts.

Guard Bobbie Williams, among the best at his position in the league, was suspended four games by the NFL for violating the league’s policy on performance enhancing drugs.  The news came out of nowhere and hurts a young Bengals offense.

The team also stashed Adam “Pacman” Jones on the PUP list and placed tight end Bo Scaife on injured reserve with a shoulder injury. Linebacker Keith Rivers was placed on the reserve/NFI list, knocking him out for the first six weeks of the season like Jones.

The cuts weren’t quite as noteworthy, but the team did release three veterans: CB Jonathan Wade, DE Victor Adeyanju, and G Max Jean-Gilles.  (PFT broke that news earlier.)

The team waived 19 players: FB Fui Vakapuna, CB Brandon Ghee, QB Dan LeFevour, CB Rico Murray, TE John Nalbone, DT Jason Shirley, FB James Develin, CB David Pender, DE James Ruffin, WR Calvin Russell, DT Cornell Banks, DB DeQuin Evans, RB Jay Finley, RB John Griffin, WR Andrew Hawkins, CB Korey Lindsey, T Matthew O’Donnell, G Chris Riley and K Thomas Weber.

Chris Pressley made the team as a fullback.  The Bengals only carried two quarterbacks. Recent trade acquisition Taylor Mays made the team, as expected.

Parole officers & PED’s, what a way to run a team.

If you were cut by the Bengals, it’s time to find a new profession.

Well, unlike a certain QB in that division, at least he didn’t rape anybody. So the Bengals can be proud of that.

wow I wouldn’t have thought a player from this top notch organization would be suspended. They will most likely release this guy and not miss a beat, like they always do.

Blah Blah Blah Bengals suck Blah Redskins Blah Raiders Blah Seahawks 49ers and all the NFCW. People seem to say the same thing over and over again when it comes to those teams.

To recap the Bengals week… One key starter has been suspended 4 games and another is currently sitting in jail.

Carson Palmer is looking smarter every minute.

Seems like Dan LeFevour’s plan to skip the combine a few years ago was a bad idea, he doesnt even have a big contract to anchor himself to a roster spot. Disappointing. Almost as disappointing as Jevan Snead’s decision to leave Ole Miss early.

And they kept Andre Smith? Wow! I guess the Bengals cafeteria needed him on the roster so they could save money with the big discount on freight food shipping.

Commenting without knowledge dude. Andre Smith was down to 335 this year and playing great. Hope you had fun making your stupid inaccurate joke.

With Jordan getting cut and now Dan. With the Bengals talking to Carson, that can only mean 1 thing. Carson will be back for this season, then Brown will honor a trade request, the same thing he did for Boomer.

Wish the Bengals coulda kept Dequinn, Little “Hawk”ins, and rico Murray. Promising undersized guys. If we get two of three to the practice squad and beef em up that would be a godsend.
Mays talent must be worth it to drop 3 guys with heart and ability.
Congratulations to Chris Pressley, great leverage guy shoulda kept him instead of Fui last year.
    Go Bengals

Bobbiebengal cares more about the bengals than the bengals do. The season hasn’t even started and feelings are already hurt. I apologize bro.

    Dear Bengals,

    Just give up.

I like how people are surprise that people of Cincinnati and surrounding suburbs are “still Bengals Fans.” Like it would be more honorable to just give up on a team that we we’re raised on. So, we should just become fans of a large market team? I guess we should all just shift our support to the Patriots? Or how about the Eagles? They are the “Dream Team,” right? The funny thing is I think it shows that the fans of the Bengals are real. Not just jumping on the proverbial bandwagon cause the team is winning, like most of the ignorant people who trash other teams on this site. If anything we’re much better fans that most of the giant market fans of the NY’s and Bostons of the NFL. So, go f*** yourself, and worry about your own squad.
