No New England fan who actually follows the team will be sorry to see him go. Even if you ignore the off the field stuff, the fact of the matter is he had a terrible habit of freelancing and he’s slow. That’s a lethal combination for a DB. He makes the Pro Bowl a few times because he makes a few hits that they run on SportsCenter, but from a fundamentals standpoint, he’s simply not very good.

Saw and talked to him (Meriweather) at the NCAA in Providence. He looked a little over weight to me, at least for a safety. Also remarked that he wanted HOF status – don’t see it happening.

goawayeverybody – It may be the Patriots have little choice but to sign Darren Sharper. Meriweather gets hated on for the Todd Heap hit, but the fact remains that hit fundamentally changed that game – it made the Ravens play scared, and that’s what football is about.

Why they keep choosing half of the Patriots, Cowboys rosters to make the Pro Bowl is beyond me.

Merriweather in Pro Bowl is just as sad as seeing Roy Williams(ex S-Cowboys) when the guy was just a hard hitter and horrible in coverage..

Another Belichick 1st rd bust. The guy just can’t seem to get it right in the 1st Rd. Besides Mayo, i haven’t seen none of his projects work out. From Mauroney, C.Jackson, S – Merriweather, etc. etc.

If it wasn’t for Tom Brady, this whole team would be at the bottom of the AFC East only ahead of Buffalo.

Yea, I also noticed they were the only team in league history to go 16-0 since they were caught “cheating.” If not for some fluke catch by a Giants receiver who hasn’t played in a game since, they would have went 19-9.
