Colts fan here. To answer your question, I would not want Indy to take Luck. Right now, Luck is better than almost half of the starting QBs in the league. To ask him to sit on the bench for 3-4 years would just be wasting a great talent. Also, it would make for great awkwardness everytime an ageing Manning has a bad game and the Luck whispers start. No wat Indy would have the balls to bench the legend Manning for Luck. Think the Favre-Rodgers situation… but on steroids.

Your idea would make sense if it were a project QB, like Tebow or Newton. But a ready-to-play-right-now QB like Luck… no good reason to have him sit and learn for 3-4 years even if it is behind one of the greatest QBs ever. It would be a waste.

Being a Pats fan, Ive always had mixed feeling about Manning. While he is “the enemy”, he is also one of the greatest QBs ever to play the game. So it’s sad to him beset with so many injuries in the latter part of his career. It’s posslibe this could eventually prove career ending because neck injuries are nothing to mess with.

ON the other hand, I think the Colts made a HUGE mistake signing him to sich a big/long contract this late in his career! I think they are going to regret it. Best of luck to him in recovering. I Just hope he doesnt do anything stupid that would endanger his future health!

( In a must win game, Id still take Brady!! )

I have never been a fan of the Colts and never will be.

I do however have the utmost respect for Peyton Manning and wish him a full and complete recovery. I would like to see him finish his outstanding career on the field and not in a doctors office.

WARNING FOR COLTS FANS: Losing a Hall of Fame quarterback either to injury or retirement is like falling off a cliff. Trust me. I know. Watching Bubby Brister trot onto the field after John Elway’s retirement was one of the worst feelings I have ever experienced.

In all seriousness, Peyton needs to hang it up. Look at what has happened to former players who had nagging injuries. The recent lockout highlighted how bad off many players are because of the nature of the game. A neck injury couldn’t be more serious. Another Superbowl win OR TEN isn’t worth the next forty to sixty years suffering from headaches, back aches, neck aches, depression, etc. Walk away before it’s too late.

Peyton you’re already a Hall-of-Famer. Thank you for great games and raising the bar. You have nothing to regret at this point. Keep it that way.

WHy is it small radio host break stories when ESPN, FOX and Yahoo will get credit for them? Remember you had an article in July from some hack in Chicago saying Hall of Fame game woudl be cancelled and everyone said no way then a week later it was!

it’s time to trade him to the Raiders. They get all of them on their way out. @dynastdriven i loved 08. I’d like to see 11,12,13,14,15, on and on the same way.They can always make up some new rules to help brady out though like the little fumble was a tuck rule.

If this is true and Manning needs another neck surgery, they should have him sit out the year. Otherwise theyre jeapordizing him taking a big hit when he comes back and having a career ending issue. Better to sacrifice one year than the next 5.

IF…and that is a big if that Manning won’t play…Colts can still win the AFC South this year with Collins at QB. Not a very talented division and Colts still have the most talented team with Wayne, Clark, Collie, Saturday, Freeney, Mathis, Bethea, Powers, and many other core veterans.

Now that would be turning lemons into some seriously fine lemonaide. You have how many playoff years in a row, one really bad year, and then you draft the guy who is pretty much being universally described as the next Peyton Manning. You sit him behind Peyton for a couple of years and let him learn from the master and see if he’s everything the hype makes him out to be. If he is, then when Peyton in 38 or 39 if he doesn’t come to you about retirement, you go to him and offer him a position in the front office. You end up with a seamless transition from Peyton to Peyton 2.0. Serious question Colts fans: if you knew you’d end up with this scenario, would you willingly accept one horrible season?

Two things here, its funny how Texans fans are jubilating over potentially Peyton Manning missing the first game and thinking Hallelujah we will make the playoffs finally, truly truly sad and pathetic. Secondly games havent started yet and deeming that the Colts will have the worst record and will be in the Luck sweepstakes. Worst record not even close, draft a QB fat chance.
And Texans dont think your secondary has improved with Mr Joseph, teams will still throw on you in that Reliant Stadium of yours and elsewhere.
