Don’t worry Colts fans – it’s all an elaborate plan to go 2-14 and as the worst team in football get the number one draft pick next year Andrew Luck as Peyton’s successor.
-----------------------------------------------

2-14 won't get the #1 overall pick. There's NO way the Bengals win 2 games this year.

I am surprised that no one has mentioned that in Peyton's 2001 autobiography, he said that he had a slight stenosis in his neck. That caught my eye even back then. I've wondered ever since when, not how, that congenital condition might affect his ability to play in time. Now, we all know.

I 've watched Peyton play from his Tennessee days through last season. It's been a great ride for him, the Colts, the NFL and for football fans of all ages and genders; moreoever, he has been a class act on and off the field throughout. But now that his stenosis has worsened -- and he recently became a father for the first time at age 36 -- it may be time for him to leave the game with his grace, reputation and body intact.

I don't like to see any player get hurt, but to watch Peyton Manning become a paraplegic on the field would be a tragedy of epic proportions, and with repercussions felt throughout amateur, varsity and professional football. Is his breaking more records worth that risk? I think not.

...and their defense is some years less so.....mainly because they stock the offense......the only SB the Colts could win with Manning was when their defense (which was the worst in the league) rose up and was the best in the playoffs........otherwise....it would have been the same old story with the Colts.

If you believe that Manning is the ONLY talent on the team than you must agree that the Colts organization is incompetent, right?.....who would pay one guy at the expense of the rest of the team.......especially when it hasn't worked!

Lets see…
Patriots without Tom Brady: 11-5
Steelers without Big Ben: 3-1
Packers without Rodgers: 0-1 (but nearly beat a 14-2 Patriots team)

So, “Mr. Obvious”, I’d say that you obviously have no idea of what you are talking about. A lot of those elite QB’s you mentioned have very good TEAMS behind them as proven by their win/loss records without them.

The Colts will be the exception and will definately have a losing record without Manning because they have one of the worst run defenses, passing defense, run offenses, special teams, and coaching in the entire NFL. This has been the case for years.

Unlike the other guys that you mentioned, they can miss some games and their teams can still be successfull… if/when Manning misses games, they will be one of the bottom 4 teams in the NFL.
----------------

I can't believe this ignorant post got 17 likes and only 3 dislikes(including mine). Shows you how dumb some fans are. The Colts DONT have a good team behind Manning. They never have. Thats why they have lost almost every game near the end of the season where Manning was resting. The Patriots have a good team other than Brady, and that year they also had a very good QB named Matt Cassel who was the starting QB for a playoff team last year. The Steelers always have a terrific defense which is why when they lose Ben for a few games they are fine. Although I'd like to see how they would do if they lost Ben for an entire season. The Colts are a crappy defense with a superb offense because of Manning. Everything revolves around Manning, unlike those other teams. Their receivers are great because of Manning. Pierre Garcon, Austin Collie, and Dallas Clark would be crap for almost any other QB in the league. They have no running game. Their running game has been decent in past years because defenses play Manning and hope to God the Colts actually run the ball, because that would mean Manning isn't throwing it.

5-11 at the most, only because they get to play the Titans and Jaguars twice a year.

Why do you care for Colts fans if your not one, whats your angle? They get what they ask for every year don’t they? So to call them out now after putting up with this nonsense year after year and then have a situation like this TRUMP everything fraudulant this organization has ever done, makes me the idiot? I don’t think so.
____________________________
My "angle" is that I'm an actual football fan. My other "angle" is that I believe being a fan means you stick with your team in good times and in bad. As an Eagles fan from central Pa, I remember the bad years before Andy Reid took over as HC...the dreaded Ray Rhodes and Rich Kotite years. I also remember seeing those sad band wagon jumpers all of a sudden wearing Cowboys hats and jerseys after having talked trash about them once Jimmy Johnson brought in the triplets and had them winning. I support all fans (even the ones of teams I despise) as long as they're true fans and not band wagon losers.

As for the accusations of fraud, the irony is that team owner Irsay is probably the one person you can't paint with that brush. Irsay's tweets have been giving some real clues as to the situation for a while now. It's the front office that simply refused to comment on the issue, and all those talking heads on tv going on and on about how tough Peyton is that had people convinced Peyton would be starting from the first snap. Maybe if some of these "analysts" had studied up on the issue and learned that with this injury it's not a matter of toughness a little sooner, this wouldn't have come as a shock to so many now. Besides, like an earlier poster said, season tickets aren't something that you can simply choose to buy from year to year for most teams. If the team has a strong fan base, then giving them up one year means that you'll most likely end up at the bottom of a rather long waiting list before you get another crack at them. So, even if Manning is forced to sit out the entire year, how many fans would have given up their season tickets, knowing they'd most likely not be able to get them back next year? If they want, they're free to resell those tickets on stub hub or a similar site and recoup a large part of their investment for this year, and still keep their right to buy them next year.

If the team has a strong fan base, then giving them up one year means that you’ll most likely end up at the bottom of a rather long waiting list before you get another crack at them. So, even if Manning is forced to sit out the entire year, how many fans would have given up their season tickets, knowing they’d most likely not be able to get them back next year? If they want, they’re free to resell those tickets on stub hub or a similar site and recoup a large part of their investment for this year, and still keep their right to buy them next year.

I feel sorry for you that buy Colts tickets since 1984 and you have to use that to justify your reasoning for getting suckered into re-newing, re-upping or continuing buying tickets for a Manningless team THIS year. How am I the idiot again?

@stanklepoot

Why do you care for Colts fans if your not one, whats your angle? They get what they ask for every year don't they? So to call them out now after putting up with this nonsense year after year and then have a situation like this TRUMP everything fraudulant this organization has ever done, makes me the idiot? I don't think so.

I think this team with this owner, this GM, this coach and the Lucas Oil inhabitants who put up with this team are a complete waste of NFL revenue and accepting of this dysfunctional mess that we see here. If this were the Steelers, Patriots, or anyother organization that claims to be "class acts" their fans would have censored their asses out of jobs from the first Jim Beam induced Tweet from Jim Irsay's mouth, lack of Geritol induced busted past drafts from Polian, and their non diploma, witch doctor of malpractice medical staff, their asses would be all out of jobs if this was anyother state, team, city or chess club near you.

This team is a mess, they suck without Peyton, you guys never addressed the situation, if he would have never gotten HIT last year and if that line was addressed like it should have been years ago when Tarik Glen retired, this would have never happen. You guys are all to blame in Indianapolis. You allow this, its on you.

The idiots are the ones jumping at the opportunity to bash Manning and the colts because of an injury. It must be terrible to be fan of a team that sucks so bad (I.e. Houston) that you salivate at a chance to win something because of an injury to your daddy (Indianapolis). Hey Houston... You've been crowning yourselves for 4 years now. You ran around after game one last year celebrating like you won the super bowl, then went 5-10 after that. Texans fans are a complete and utter joke. Almost as much of a joke as all of these other people from other cities who claim to know everything about the Colts franchise. Maybe you should spend as much effort supporting your own sad franchises as you do hating on others. Notice all of the classy comments wishing Peyton well are coming from fans of winning franchises (I.e. New England) because they don't want or need injuries to other teams stars to help them win.

As far as Polian goes, most of you idiots speak based off of jealousy. Name another team other than maybe NE that has been as solid and successful over the past 13 years.

People, grow up, put the beer or pipe down and show the organization and it's staff a little respect.

Uh-oh…….

I’m okay with him not breaking the consecutive games started streak.

I just hope he comes back strong and healthy enough to break EVERY SINGLE record that Brett Favre (Favv-ruh?) owns.

Favre can’t carry Manning’s jock and here’s hoping he can break all of those records.

Get well soon Peyton!!!!!
____________________________
I'm not even particularly a Favre fan and I know it's time for you Favre-obsessed idiots to crawl out of your parents' basements and enter the real world. This has nothing to do with Favre, and everything to do with Peyton having a serious injury. Favre is retired, just let it go.

But, since you felt the need to attack the guy for no reason, how about you deal with the facts. Favre doesn't need to carry Manning's jock, he has his own hall of fame career...which is a whole lot more than you can say. Favre and Manning have the same number of SB championships and have played in the same number of SBs. Additionally, Favre has a better playoff winning percentage, has gone deeper into the playoffs more often, still has all kinds of records like consecutive starts, TD passes, and total yards. Here's where you'll want to throw out the fact that Favre also has the record for most INTs thrown in a career. Granted, but Manning still holds the record for most INTs thrown in a season I believe. So, please, stop ranting about retired players for no apparent reason, especially when it's an argument you simply can't win. You can now feel free to go back to your fantasies about carrying other men's jock straps.

Second, the Pats, Saints, Steelers and Patriots are actual teams that would not be as good without their Qbs (obvious) but would not be "screwed". The Colts have no run game, no defense (aside from Freeney and Mathis) and no coaching staff. No Manning = No wins

Horrible….He’s done for the year, book it. Lets here the all the Colts fans come out and support this one and their joke GM, coach and drunk owner. I’d like to here all the dopes from the last post justify their season tickets now and here how they weren’t misled when they bought their tickets in March and would have still bought those tickets in MAY when he had the surgery. I want to hear how I’m an idiot, when the Colts deserve to be destroyed for this whole embarassment. Here’s the truth…The Lions, Bucs, and Seahawks have surpassed you.

hey Jason, no need to be a jerk to Colts fans man. I'm not one of them, but I do have some sympathy for them, and I hope Peyton is well as soon as possible. Even worse, your idea of what a fan is seems rather pathetic to me. The only reason to buy season tickets is if Peyton can play? So, what, we should only support our teams when they're on top? That's not being a fan, that's hopping on the nearest band wagon. So, for both of those reasons, I'll fulfill your request: YOU'RE AN IDIOT.
