LaRon Landry deletes tweet about Redskins medical staff

It doesn’t sound like the Redskins are going to have safety LaRon Landry in the lineup when they face the Giants on Sunday.

He probably shouldn’t expect any hugs from the team’s medical staff either.

Landry took to Twitter on Tuesday with a message indicating that his injured hamstring still isn’t healthy enough for him to get back on the field. He also seemed to point a finger at the team for slowing his recovery and forcing him to miss the season opener.

“Uuhhh oo it ain’t my fault...blame the genius circus staff for the rush. wouldve been there 2wks ago. Im sry but saga cont”

Landry deleted the tweet a short time later, but it lives on thanks to Rick Maese of the Washington Post. As Maese’s colleague Mike Jones points out, it isn’t the first tweet to combine talk of hamstring setbacks and team involvement to come from Landry’s account recently. He had even harsher words on Saturday for the guys giving him treatment.

“Dont u hate when u absolutely know something 200% and dumb a$$ mofos still do the opposite of what u tell them!!! Set backs wtf!!!”

Such poetry doesn’t win many admirers in the trainer’s room, but at least Landry (or someone close to him) realized it isn’t the best idea to create public discord.

The Redskins wouldn’t comment on Landry’s comments beyond saying that Mike Shanahan would address Landry’s condition when he speaks to the media on Wednesday. It would be surprising to hear the coach say something that makes Landry’s appearance on the field more likely. He missed the last two preseason games with his strained hamstring and an Achilles injury kept him out of the early part of the preaseason, all of which means Landry hasn’t spent enough time on the field to feel confident about his ability to make it through a game.
