from everything i’ve read about edds he seems like a really good pickup and a lot of people are saying he’s a possible stud if he gets his weight up a little bit…i’m pretty sure bill doesn’t need to get any gameplans from anyone they pick up seeing as how he’s done fine up to this point when it comes to playing other teams

He was injured like the first week of preseason his rookie year and was placed on injured reserve.

How much could he really know considering he could have got cut any day from the point he tore those knee ligaments in camp?

Additionally…….Kirk Ferentz’ son Brian Ferentz is a coach on the Patriots staff……..and Belichick kept another Iowa linebacker, Jeff Tarpinian, on the 53 man roster, as an undrafted free agent this year.

Saying either are just signal and play calling fodder is just silly. Edds is a smart, high-motor outside linebacker who would have made the Fins if he wasn’t so far behind b/c of past injuries and clearly they hoped they could stash him on the practice squad after clearing waivers. Considering Ninkovich went from situational player on the Dolphins to starter on the Patriots, Edds is someone the Pats want to keep. Likewise, the Dolphins are thinnest at TE where that is the deepest position on the Pats. Don’t know much about Yeatman but the Fins have mediocre catching specialists and okay blockign specialists — they need a decent all around TE. Both are solid pickups for teams which have similar likes and dislikes in players and have been pulling from each other’s rosters for years.

Edds was on the team for over a year knows the Miami defensive playbook where Yeatman probably memorized a handful of plays in the 5-6 weeks he was on the roster. Edds is much more valuable if one, the other, or both teams are looking for inside info. I’m sure neither know of the gameplan going into week one, and Edds definitely has valuable insight, but probably no more insight than the Pats can get off film from last year being that the Fins have the same system in place.
