Remember all the complaining about how the Pack didn’t get sign blue chip free agents (or trading off draft picks), or how Favre wanted Sherman retained, or Mariucci hired, or Favre’s particular linemen resigned (even though the Pack were already spending 65% of their payroll on offense), or how Favre quit because the Pack didn’t sign Moss the way he directed. One just has to imagine if Favre had gotten his way where the Packers would be today. I guess we have as good a facsimile in the Vikings. Instead the Pack got to the NFCCG in 2007, with Favre, doing it Ted Thompson’s way and it didn’t ruin the integrity of the team afterward. But it wasn’t Favre’s way, so he quit. Favre didn’t want to make another Super Bowl only to lose, so the only way to build a guaranteed Super Bowl team was doing it Favre’s way.

The Pack are one of the best teams on both sides of the ball. No question if Favre had gotten his buddies resigned, his buddies brought in ,and his buddies as coach, the Pack would have continued to sink coming out of the mid-2000′s and be a wreck right now. No question Packer nation would be seeking to ride Ted Thompson out on a rail. Instead, Thompson sticking to his guns, the Pack have a Super Bowl and likely very good to great for another 3 years at least.

So yes, drafting the way Ted Thompson has has worked like a charm.
