The Ravens won’t have their offensive line coach on the sideline during the first two games of the season.

Andy Moeller was suspended two games by the NFL for violating the league’s personal conduct policy. Moeller was arrested last September for driving under the influence after police pulled him over for speeding and saw signs of impairment. He was found guilty of driving while impaired by alcohol in April and sentenced to two years of probation.

Moeller, who was promoted to the top job after the Ravens let John Matsko go after the playoffs, had two previous arrests for alcohol-related charges. Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti said that he won’t tolerate any further problems of this type.

“He’s either going to get it under control or he’s going to spend a lifetime of misery like other people that are affected by that,” Bisciotti said after promoting Moeller. “We’re behind him as long as he earns trust and continues to earn that trust. But he knows he’s one step away from not being a Raven and then probably not being in the NFL at all.”

The news of the suspension did not come as a surprise to the Ravens. Coach John Harbaugh, via the Baltimore Sun, said that the team is prepared to go without Moeller for the first two weeks. Assistant line coach Todd Washington will take over Moeller’s duties.
