Damn guys. He was a pro bowl QB for years with possibly the worst receiving core throughout most of his time in Philly. In the last few (maybe last) year of his football career, he stinks in the FIRST game of the season, and everyone is saying he’s trash and always has been terrible? Give me a break.

One, let him play more than one game. And two, no matter how good or bad he plays this season, for people to say he was always garbage is an absolute joke.

Hey Michael, did you even bother to watch the game or did you write this article based on the Sportscenter highlights?

Bill Musgrave's play calling was the problem not McNabb. His choice of plays was on a high school level which is why McNabb only threw 15 passes.

If the defense is stacking eight men near the line to stop Adrian Peterson, then you have to take a few shots deep which Musgrave didn't do.

This is a new offense so it is not time to panic but can we see a few screens, play action and slant passes? The O line was bad but I give the players a pass.

Lastly, I will still respect him because the guy just seems like a good human being. Because he has been scrutinized since he was drafted and the guy remains a gentleman.

--------------------------------------------

What is your definition of gentleman? Throwing your receivers under the bus multiple times over the years? Using the term "we" for every single loss, and never once in 13 years saying "I played poorly" without adding a but to the end?

The guy is an NFL QB. Not an especially good one at this point. He had moments of greatness in Philadelphia. And 99% of Philadelphia loved him. The vocal 1% was overstated by far. But as an NFL QB, he should know that he is going to be the most criticized player on the field every week. He makes the big bucks just for that reason.

Im an Eagles fan, and I loathe the Cowboys just as much as everyone else. But if he had just once come out and say what Tony Romo said this week, he would have been perceived completely different. Instead, he uses plural pronouns, even when he was the one that was dreadful. I hate Tony Romo, but I greatly respect his ability to come out and take a bullet for his bad decision. McNabb never once did that. I loved the guy for a decade, but his time is up.

I've previously supported McNabb. I thought it was the system in Washington and the HC.

But lets not get too carried away over 1 game.

39 yards as a starting qb is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE even in a High school game.

Another game like that....he should bench himself. Better yet, save face and just retire !

It is funny to see everyone focusing on McNabb so much. Yes I will agree he is washed up and through, but it is a team sport. Washed up and through is pretty much the case for the whole franchise except for a certain running back. Watching AP is going to resemble Barry Sanders noble efforts the awful Lions teams of the late 90′s/ earl 2000′s. The whole team including the QB is responsile for the egg laid last Sunday. I think a Viking funeral is in order for the QB and the rest of the over the hill gang in Minnesota.
-----------------------------------------

Really? They were terrible in all facets of the game? Hmmmm.....

Even taking away AP's 46-yarder, the run game averaged 4.5 ypc. I'd say good job OLine.

Despite throwing 48 passes, SD WRs only had 7 rec for 97 yds. I'd say good job to the secondary.

Matthews and Tolbert combined for 80 yds on 24 car, or 3.3 ypc. Good job defense.

I'm pretty sure a little bit of a passing game would have changed the outcome of that game. Unfortunately, they were only able to run 17 plays in the entire second half. A few first downs would have made a big difference.

Who writes this garbage? Come on PFT.

Berrian has his man beat, McNabb gets hit as he throws and the pass is short, Berrian pulls up and still has a chance to catch the ball but fails. I'd put that on Berian or the O-Line, but the short cut to thinking is to blame McNabb.

Statistically it was a horrible game for McNabb, but also keep in mind for much of the second half the Vikes were trying to run the ball down their throat to kill clock and protect a lead, he only had 17 attempts?

The Christian Ponder era may start sooner, rather than later, if McNabb continues to stink up the place.
It won't take that many losses to make it happen. When/if it does happen, it will signal the end of the line for Donovan. He should get out while he can still do it with at least a modicum of dignity.

It is funny to see everyone focusing on McNabb so much. Yes I will agree he is washed up and through, but it is a team sport. Washed up and through is pretty much the case for the whole franchise except for a certain running back. Watching AP is going to resemble Barry Sanders noble efforts the awful Lions teams of the late 90's/ earl 2000's. The whole team including the QB is responsile for the egg laid last Sunday. I think a Viking funeral is in order for the QB and the rest of the over the hill gang in Minnesota.

The sad truth for Vikings fans is thier team will wallow in rebuilding mediocrity for some time to come.

…..In the days of Jim Brown, the Browns tried it and it didn’t work…Why now?

Really? No, Really?!?!

They won a championship in 1964 and were in playoff and title contention 7 out of the 9 years he played.

As the Packers have shown last year- a middle of the road 10-6 WC team can get hot at the right time and win the SuperBowl.

Those of you ripping On ALL DAY are just jealous that he isn't part of your team.

Big surprise.

The Vikes are a crappy team that has horrible management. McNabb is a crummy QB….but that’s all this team looks for….big names. I swear any local moron off the street could do a better job.

TT runs circles around them.

Funny…..you don’t hear from idiots like Paul Hargis anymore. It was only a matter of time. The season had to start sometime.
================================
Funny, I go on vaction for a week and this moron is still obsessing over me? Uff.

Dude, seek some freaking help- your hatred and incessant posting of my name shows an underlying problem.
At first i thought you were just another idiot. Now. I feel for your mental well being.
Jesus, if the Packers start doing bad- i worry that you will be out on the ledge of a tall building.

Get some psychoanalysis- and soon.

By the way, that crappy team hung with a playoff team- on the road.

Far from "horrible". Packer fans- inane , loudmouth know nothings.

I used to be a Donovan fan, insofar as I'm an Eagles fan. Then, when Andy cut him loose, I felt sorry for him. Then his nasty time in DC, and it started to seem maybe it wasn't us, it was him. But, you know, Shanny is such a sour cuss, one has a hard time believing he is objective.

Now, McNabb's decline is solidifying into cement.

Thinking back, on a rainy field in Philly, he could get 5, maybe 6, skips outta some of his worm-burners. Perhaps he really was that bad, and we woulda - shoulda - coulda won the SB with another QB.

Garcia was the man that would have delivered -- or died trying.

McNabb was terrible. Offensive line was terrible. Musgrave was terrible. Wide receivers were terrible. Defense was terrible. I’m not going to blame McNabb when there were so many other reasons the passing game couldn’t get going. If it isn’t better next week, they may as well put Ponder in and let him throw the 3-yard passes under heavy pressure

Your giving up already after week 1? I thought your vikes were just re-loading?

You know very well that I said it's a transition year and predicted an 8-8 record. We were within 7 points of one of the best teams in the NFL despite having 39 yards passing. Unless we're going to have 39 yards passing in every game, which I doubt, I'm not prepared to change my prediction.
