Joe Flacco knows to stay out of fights

Pittsburgh Steelers v Baltimore Ravens Getty Images

Once it became clear that the Ravens were going to beat down the Steelers Sunday, it seemed almost inevitable that a fight would break out.

That’s exactly what happened, and Joe Flacco wanted no part of it.

“Yeah I mean I don’t think I’m going in there and throwing any right hooks or anything, that would be a little useless if I came out of there with a broken right hand or something like that … it’s a little stupid I think,” Flacco told Florio on PFT Live.

“You try to go in there and keep guys out of it, you don’t want anyone getting thrown out of the game on either side really. We could lose them for a  game, you never want that to happen.”

We enjoyed Flacco’s interview quite a bit. To see the whole thing — or Adrian Peterson’s interview — head to the PFT Live homepage or download the show on iTunes.

I still don’t think Joe’s shown any emotion the past three years. Still waiting for him to go bonkers one game. Joe’s got a mean right hook.

Stealers played like the SB losers while the Packers played like the SB winners this week.
And in terms of NFL Championship wins it’s still:
    Packers 13
    Stealers 6

Yeah… I wouldn’t want to fight a 250+ lb NFL defender wearing a modern day suit of armor either. Nice to see a player using his college education.

    Flacco became a man yesterday.

It was beautiful. We were watching the last dieing gasps and death rattles of the self titled “Steeler Dynasty” fading away into obscurity where it belongs. Last Superbowl would have been Arizona had that halftime INT not gotten returned by James “I hit women in the face” Harrison and the one before that was RefBowl I.

Joe doesn’t have to fight, his menacing stare with his unibrow tells others to Flaccoff!

I can understand why he’d be scared of pure Steel. That’s how it will always be. Steel will always scare Flaccid.

No. I believe it was the Steelers that got circumcised.

    Emasculated anyway…

    Momma Flacco should be proud.

  15. kingofthenorth92 says: Sep 12, 2011 9:04 PM

Not like there was anyone out there that Flacco could have stood a chance against in a fight anyway….Troy should have been ejected for his takedown though but it’s not like he was a factor in the game anyway

I was gracious in congratulating the Packers like I’ve been gracious in congratulating the Ravens. But you need to learn something about being a gracious winner. Just curious … are Denver fans still trolling your boards and ranting about how the Broncos played like winners and the, um, “Peckers” played like losers?

This is the Ravens’ party–and they earned it. You guys had three turnovers and still couldn’t win by more than a touchdown. If you’d been playing yesterday’s Ravens, they’d have sent Rodgers home in a body bag. Keep that in mind as the season rolls on …

kyleortonsarm, green bay wouldn’t have one the sb if polamalu was healthy, new Orleans wouldn’t have one the sb if farve wouldn’t have thrown that int, giants wouldn’t have won that sb if that lucky deep pass wasn’t caught. See we can all make excuses just sthu please

Flacco certainly looked scared standing in the pocket throwing TDs!

Am I the only one who finds it funny that the Ravens fans tuck their tails between their legs and hang their heads low when the Steelers beat them when the wins are needed most (and subsequently whine and bitch about how the Steelers cheated and had the refs on their sides), but the one time the Ravens come up big with a win (in what one could argue is borderline meaningless, for the moment- we’ll have to see what the rest of the season says for both teams) they trash talk their freakin’ mouths off? You’d think that they’ve been dominating the Steelers this way for decades with the way these kids are talking.

You would think that you guys just stored all of the bad jokes and the butthurt in a little box to let it all out the one time you guys make national television with a win over the Steelers. Dominate them when it truly matters most, THEN pull out all the bad jokes.

Or hell, just pull a single freakin’ win when it truly matters most.

Joe’s smart! What can he REALLY do against James Harrison? That brotha would eat him for dinner!

  24. tnsteel says: Sep 13, 2011 7:02 AM

It’s funny how Ravens fans are acting like they own the Steelers after one game. My theory on all of it is, I don’t believe the Steelers are that bad and I don’t think the Ravens are that good.

Their receivers did hardly nothing all game after the first td to boldin. Ray Rice beat the Steelers and I think they are capable of fixing that. Come the end of the season this game will be meaningless and it will end up hurting the Ravens cause they have way to much confidence!

  25. rayriceisnice says: Sep 13, 2011 8:08 AM

Wow deb, well said, your my favorite steelers fan. Packers trolls are quickly becoming more annoying then steelers fans, weren’t they like 3-13 a few years ago? How about keep ya mouth shut, good run in the playoffs, but jeez, that’s so 2010 lol

Harrison sacks on Flacco – ZERO.

Mr. Harrison is irrelevant in Steeler/Raven matchups.

On the other hand Mr. Suggs has usually Roethlisberger for breakfast, lunch AND dinner with multiple sacks per game.

    @rayriceisnice …

So 2010 lol … and that guy copied and pasted the same comment on at least three threads! Would be funny if the Lions eat them for lunch :)

  28. cundiffsboot says: Sep 13, 2011 11:51 AM

I’m a ravens fan, but you can’t really say that Harrison is irrelevant in these matches. This is the first game I can think of that Harrison didn’t put much pressure on Flacco. I’m so used to seeing Harrison beat our left tackle and drilling Flacco in the back. Be a fan but don’t be stupid.

  29. rayriceisnice says: Sep 13, 2011 12:42 PM

    ^^^^^^ smart lol.

  30. somesome says: Sep 13, 2011 4:00 PM

Harrison has never sacked Flacco, for a OLB pass rusher that is PRETTY MUCH irrelevant.

Am I the only one who finds it funny that the Ravens fans…

Don’t go there. There are plenty of Steeler folks that hide when you all lose a tough game. And some that stand up and take it. Don’t single out Ravens fans as the only obnoxious group after a big win. As a Ravens fan I have always come in and been gracious and make no excuses when we lose regardless. Bad calls, bad breaks, whatever else you want to call ‘em, good teams have to overcome them. Period.

Ok, so there may be a few knucklehead fans who talk trash. But do I need to buy you some glasses? You don’t see your own fans do this all the time? Really?

Dude, give us a break. We have lost terrible close games, with your excellent team tearing our hearts out it seems everytime. One freakin’ time we win and you can’t take a few bad comments? You need to grow a set.

I will be the first to agree this was only one win. But Borderline Meaningless? You don’t know much about football either do you? Every win matters. Everyone wants homefield if they make the playoffs. How often is it that just one win makes a “huge” difference. I am embarassed for you that you made that comment. The true Steelers fans are normally much more knoweldgable about football than that. I guess you were too focused to just minimalize the game that you forgot about the fact that wins matter.

See a therapist. They can help with what ails you.
