So you’d take Romo over Tom Brady, Ben Roethlisberger, Aarron Rodgers, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, and Phillip Rivers, then?

No, I wouldn't take Romo over those 6 guys, and probably wouldn't take him over Vick, either. But 32 men have to be starting QBs in the NFL, and right now, I would take Romo over everyone else. You can argue Romo to be as low as 13 on a QB list, but that still makes him an upper tier starter.

Old Troy Aikman, Quincy Carter, Ryan Leaf, Clint Stoener, Drew Henson, Anthony Wright, Chad Hutchinson, Vinny Testaverde, Drew Bledsoe...that's what we had to put up with between Young Troy Aikman and Romo. I like to think of Romo as an elite QB but then I remind myself he was an undrafted free agent (of course, Brady almost was too). I think he plays to the best of his ability and sometimes he makes mistakes, some that are costly. But I'd still take him over most QB's in the league, including Ben Rapessburger. And for those of you who forget that this is a TEAM game, remember that Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson each won Super Bowls.

You just have to know when you've made a personnel mistake to acknowledge it, bite the bullet, and correct the situation ASAP so that it does not adversely affect the team longer than need be. Jerry doesn't want to acknowledge that he screwed up.

Romo has a track record of making bone headed plays at crucial times and has cost them multiple games. They need to address this. QBs that get brain cramps at the crunch time simply are not good QBs. Romo is the poster boy for this and based on his track record should not be a starting QB.

4 all u romo bashers, romo wil bounce back next week against the 49′ers and blow them out big time. romo will get this team back on track despite his 1-7 record. romo will lead the cowboys 2 the nfc east title this season an will win the nfc and play in super bowl 46. without romo the cowboys would not be as good as they have been. all qb makes mistakes. like i said all u romo bashers, romo will bounce back next sunday against the 49′ers then come home 4 the home opener and beat the deadskins and the lions, going to the bye week with a 3-1 record take that u romo bashers. i believe what jerry said he is the gm he sees romo every day, so he knows. go cowboys!!!

The facts ARE the facts:

Romo has a higher career passer rating in the fourth quarter or overtime of close games (98.8), a higher career passer rating in the fourth quarter overall (100.0) AND a higher career passer rating in the final two minutes of each half (97.0) than any other current QB who has started more than a handful of games.

In most of those categories, almost nobody else is even close to Romo. Not Brady (82.6, 90.1, 87.4), not Manning (91.3, 89.6, 81.3), not Brees (88.3, 87.0, 83.3), not Rodgers (95.5, 92.7, 78.3), not Roethlisberger (86.2, 87.5, 80.5), not Rivers (85.4, 98.5, 81.5) nor anyone else.

People only remember the times he fails. He has won big games. How about beating Indy in Indy when they were undefeated. How about beating the undefeated Saints in NO when a loss probably would have ended their playoff hopes. There are plenty of others.

How about the American Team last year that ended up 6-10?

Sure Romo had great games. But people will ALWAYS remember him as a choke artist until he proves otherwise. So all you cowboys fans can dream and fantasize for next few years while other teams leave you guys behind.

Don't be shock if they're last in the NFC East this year. Until Romo is gone and JJ hires a real GM, Cowboys will always be a team that won't go to the Big Stage.

The perception is that Romo isn’t a “clutch” QB because he has had a few notable failures, and his failures get magnified because of the team he’s on, but the FACTS are that Romo has been a terrific clutch player, more often than not, throughout his career.

Clutch playoff wins-0
Clutch superbowl performances-0
Superbowl appearances-0
Playoff chokes-2 or 3?

He doesn't belong in the same sentence as Peyton Manning.
Romo is a decent qb of mcnabb had all the weapons that romo has had when in his prime he'd have a couple rings. Romo decent because he has always had weapons. Put him on Jacksonville or Seattle he'd be the next Marc Bulger

DAVID GARRARD????? Are you kidding me?

Sure Romo has thrown away some games, but he is 42-20 as a starter for the Cowboys and has led 10 4th Qtr comebacks/game winning drives.

His reputation as a choke artist comes mainly from the playoff games. In the 2006 playoff game against Seattle, he choked - as a holder. As a QB, he led them down the field in the 4th Qtr to get the field goal attempt, and he was basically a rookie. In 2007 playoffs, they lost to a Giants team that rode a hot streak to the superbowl. The entire team played poorly, and Romo wasn't any more of the reason they lost than any other player. In 2009, he was outstanding against the Iggles. Then, he and everyone else on that team got steamrolled in Minnesota. He was bad, but so was everybody else.

People who don't want to actually use their brain blame Romo only for the Cowboys' collective failures to go farther in the playoffs. (BTW, If a guy tells you Eli is better than Rivers because Eli has a ring, slap that guy in the face because he's an idiot.) "Romo" is not 1-3 in the playoffs, the Cowboys are. He has contributed to the 3 losses, but so have a lot of other guys. It doesn't mean that he can't help this team get to the playoffs again and even win playoff games again.

Romo is no worse than the 5th best player on the team, so if he is so awful, then they won't win a game this year. My hunch is that they will find a way to struggle through a few wins even with Romo playing.

His passing yards are up cause he's usually coming from behind.
