Several weeks ago, Jordan Palmer was battling for a spot on the Bengals’ depth chart, with Dan LeFevour. (In the end, neither made it.) Jordan’s big brother, Carson, reportedly believed that the Bengals were toying with Jordan, squatting on his rights and not giving him a chance to earn a job with another NFL team.
In the end, Jordan Palmer didn’t even have enough time to earn a job with another UFL team.
On the same day that the UFL issued a press release announcing the rosters for the launch of the 2011 season -- which included Jordan Palmer as a member of the Sacramento Mountain Lions -- a separate release listed Jordan Palmer as one of the men who had been removed from the Mountain Lions’ active roster.
So who’s really toying with Jordan Palmer?
Other recognizable names on UFL rosters entering the UFL season (unless they also are released before the UFL season starts) include, in Las Vegas, quarterback Brian Brohm (who was the Andrew Luck of the 2007 college football preseason), running back Marcel Shipp, and receiver Eddie Drummond. In Omaha, the roster includes a pair of Heisman Trophy winners in quarterbacks Troy Smith and Eric Crouch, along with quarterback Jeremiah Masoli, running backs Maurice Clarett, Noel Devine, and Shaud Williams, receiver Chad Jackson, defensive tackle Dusty Dvoracek, linebacker Angelo Crowell, and defensive back Ricardo Colclough. In Sacramento, the roster has running back John David Washington (Denzel’s son), linebacker Dontarrious Thomas, and defensive back Will Poole. Finally, the Virginia Destroyers include quarterback Mike McMahon, running backs Dominic Rhodes and Adrian Peterson (not that one), and defensive back Keiwan Ratliff.
