Antrel Rolle riles up the Redskins

Anthony Armstrong, Antrel Rolle AP

On Sunday, the Redskins surprisingly took down the Giants, doubling them up via a 28-14 final score.

On Monday, the team that should have been humbled by the outcome wasn’t.

“We as a team and as an organization, we know that the Washington Redskins is [sic] not a better than us,” Giants safety Antrel Rolle told WFAN, via Jeff Roberts of NorthJersey.com.  “We know that hands down.  If we played them 100 times, they might win five.”

Rolle also said he wasn’t impressed with Redskins quarterback Rex Grossman.

“No, not at all,” Rolle said.  “And we’ll definitely prove that the next time around.  And we will get after Rex.  He’s going to feel the Giants coming next time around.  But we’ll take care of that when the time comes.”

The time comes in December.  And Rolle’s remarks likely will be dusted off at that time, as the Redskins try to get their second of five out of 100 wins.

I’m sure Rex Grossman and the rest of the Redskins were very impressed with the Giants either. And that goes for the rest of the NFL. Because they STINK!

  6. redskinszt says: Sep 14, 2011 8:39 AM

Antrel Rolle can cry all he wants. he may say he can beat the redskins 95 times out of a 100 but one of those times wasn’t sunday so why is he even talking. Rex Grossman threw for over 300 yards & 2 TDs on your defense. The last thing you should do after that is bash the team that beat you by 2 touchdowns. Nobody should say anything about the giants missing key defensive players. The Redskins were without Landry, one of our top defensive play makers. You didn’t win sunday, so why are you talking?

Wow, way to lose with class.

I can’t wait to watch the Redskins beat the Giants a second time, and then the league’s most overrated safety can start practicing his putting.

The Redskins were way, way more aggressive on defense and the offense played well against a (normally) very good Giants defense.

  25. johnnyjagfan says: Sep 14, 2011 8:56 AM

I think his words vs. Grossman is what’ll come back to haunt him. Dude looked poised and threw for 300 on them. He had touch and didn’t make those brainless mistakes we all were waiting on.

I’m a Giants fan. I hate nonsense like this. If you are truly the better team, Antrel, then prove it on the field. Shut up and play better. His penalty definitely cost the team a chance to tie it up.
I hate when other teams talk post-game smack like this. I hate it MORE when the Giants do it. It’s embarrassing.

  33. jahbird says: Sep 14, 2011 9:00 AM

There’s lots to say here, but the only important thing to note is that Antrelle lead with his helmet to the back of Fred Davis’ head while he was sitting down on the field. The ensuing penalty extended the Redskins drive which ended with a touchdown.

I hope he’s around for the next 100 games, maybe his bone-head errors and shoddy play will help us get to that five win number quicker than he thinks.

  34. ny82jy says: Sep 14, 2011 9:00 AM

From a lifelong Giants fan – STFU and PLAY!!! You want to make asinine comments you can’t back up, play for the Jets. They specialize in that. That’s not the Giants way and the sooner you realize that RINGS speak louder than WORDS, the sooner you MIGHT turn into a real Giants player. Right now, you’re on your way to becoming “Tiki-lite” and we all saw how well running his mouth worked out for Tiki.

  43. Panda Claus says: Sep 14, 2011 9:18 AM

Hey Antrel, focus on the Rams. That’s the team you should be thinking about. Your old coordinator coaches there now and wants badly to beat you. The last thing you need to do is run your mouth and end up 0-2.

  44. dmvswcn says: Sep 14, 2011 9:24 AM

    What a Loser!!!

  45. hateradeonrocks says: Sep 14, 2011 9:28 AM

Here are a few numbers for you to deal with
87-62-4 Life time againest the skins
So the Giants would have to loss every game againest the skins for the 13.5 seasons to even be tied.

And for the rest of the NFC who have such high hopes
281-221-10 Life time againest all NFC east teams and it would take 10 years to be tied with the east.
Only the Cowboys have winning record againest the Giants

And how many trophies do they have in Philly?

Smack talking like this I can understand if the final score was close, but it wasn’t, and Mr. Rolle is the prime reason why it wasn’t. Mr. Rolle needs to STFU and grab a copy of the English version of Rossetta Stone. He needs it.

Nothing like being taken to task by a Giants fan that failed 2nd grade math.

The Skins would 12.5 seasons (2 wins per season) to get the 25 wins needed to get from 87-62-4 to 87-87-4.

@Kamdaryda Y’all are gonna be resting y’all starters?? Why they’re all gonna be injured. I’m not buying the Rex Grossman hype yet. They beat a team with a patchwork secondary, and a turnover prone qb. Whoopty doo!! Beat Dallas, St. Louis, Buffalo, Miami, SF, Seattle, Arizona, and Minnesota. These are all winnable games. If the Redskins win 5-7 of these games, they’ll have a chance at the playoffs. If the Redskins lose half of these winnable games, they’ll be bottom dwellers once again.

  65. pigskinswag says: Sep 14, 2011 10:19 AM

Okay Antrel, if the Redskins aren’t better than you, then doesn’t that make you losing to them MORE embarrassing? You said you weren’t impressed by Rex Grossman…21/34, 305 yards and 2 TD’s is pretty damn impressive to me. Ohh, that’s right Antrel, you have an elite quarterback on your team, so why would you be impressed with Average Rex? Well, Eli(te) Manning went 18/32, 268 yards and an Interception. Guess you’re impressed with him though, right? No wonder your team allowed 305 yards passing. Their starting safety is trying to run and cover receivers with his foot in his mouth.

  71. davidgq says: Sep 14, 2011 10:37 AM

Everyone said Rex sucks but he has 300 yds in 3 games he played for Skins so far. Only 1 in Chicago. Sometime the QB needs to be in the right system to succeed. In Shanahan system, the QB just need to manage the game.

Second, why some people said Skins won because Giants D is depleted? Did Giants D played Offense and Special Team also? Could it be that Skins won because their D shut down a healthy Giants O in the second half? Giants O was 1 – 7 on 3rd down. 0 – 1 on 4th down.

  72. mwcarolina says: Sep 14, 2011 10:39 AM

Uh, Mr. Rolle, if you are so much better than the Redskins why didnt you uh win???? i do believe that you play safety, so why is a rookie linebacker who is moving from end getting a pick six, yet, you dont get a pick six. if you were SO good you would’ve picked off Grossman 2 or 3 times and possibly take one for a TD, however, you didnt and Grossman looked real good for one day. if you want to stop Grossman (who i am not impressed with either) then intercept him or cause a fumble.

  73. skinsfan28 says: Sep 14, 2011 10:50 AM

Rolle is an idiot. If Armstrong holds on to 2 more passes that hit him in the hands, Grossman would have been closer to 400 yards passing on the Giants. Your team got beat, take your lumps and hope you play better next time.

Another thing those previous years when the 6 game losing streak and 9 out 10 the Skins lost weren’t those played with the Skins missing starting O-lineman and defensive players? The Giants have a very good safety from the U … and it’s Kenny Phillips.

Okay, that’s a cheap shot, as I think Antrel Rolle’s been solid since moving to safety, but this is totally ridiculous for him to come out chirping like this after their deep coverage got blitzed for Rex Grossman.

Both teams still have more to prove, and gut instinct still says both are .500ish teams on the outside looking in (for the playoffs), but 1-0 is better than 0-1. I hope his math “tutor” at the U was better than this English “tutor”.
