If the Matthews experiment doesn’t work out, they will either try Brian Rolle in the middle or move Chaney to MLB and bring Jordan off the bench to play the WLB.

The later in the season we get, the more likely we are to see Jordan vs Rolle.

And that, my friend, is the depressing part. Now that the season is underway, there is very little likelyhood that we will sign anyone else after this week. Trades arent common (the Spoon trade was kind of odd). We are most likely stuck with what we have, and that is what depresses me. Our LBs will get tested early and every game. And if we cant manage to build up a lead in games and force teams to pass, we will get abused by physical run teams.

Chaney would be my choice for the middle of what (little) talent we have now. WILL, however…we just have a collection of ST players and late round draft picks with flashes of occasional talent.

Birds won’t be signing anyone, unless Matthews suddenly turns VERY bad (played OK on Sunday, but very inconsistent) or there is an injury.
