Giants add Brandon Stokley

Wild Card Playoffs - New Orleans Saints v Seattle Seahawks Getty Images

When we last heard from receiver Brandon Stokley, he was backing out of a tentative agreement with the Redskins.

Now, Stokley has joined the team that the Redskins have just beaten.

Zach Berman of the Newark Star-Ledger reports that the Giants have signed Stokley.

A league source tell PFT that Stokley was the winner in a Wednesday Gong Show tryout of potential slot receivers, with Hakeem Nicks and Mario Manningham handling the outside duties.

I’m wit it. He can work well with Eli and forge chemistry quickly. We need a HEALTHY slot guy with knees that aren’t coming off serious surgery. Vic Cruz dropping that sure big play pass killed Eli’s confidence in him and we didn’t get any effective play out of the slot the rest of the game.

Hard to get excited about Brandon Stokley

The giants should be more worried about signing corners, they did just get torched by sexy text GROSSman

  4. rayriceisnice says: Sep 14, 2011 7:19 PM

Didn’t he burn you fools in the sb in 2000? Yup! If you can’t beat em…sign em I guess, he’s still serviceable for sure

If Kevin Gillbride keeps being so predictable no additions will help ! I can tell you what he’s is gonna call from my couch hungover on Sundays !
All you have to do is make Jacobs stutter step and the play is over ! Do they have a pass play designed to get yards after the catch or is every pass play called so the receiver turns around jumps up and is tackled immediately ? I got a play you can throw out right now ,the one where your backed up at your own goal line and the receiver dosen’t get off the line and Eli fires a ball parallel with the line and the receiver makes a head fake then is tackled with a gain of half a foot when you need 9 1/2 for a first down !

What about that bright candle Devin Thomas?

First he pops off about the “Deadskins” and now he can’t even get any run as an actual WR?

DT…my man…you better bust a KR to the house soon, or you’re going to get “Jordan Palmered” out of both American outdoor football leagues so fast it’s going to make you finely coiffed head spin.

Hope that modeling portfolio you carry around with you is updated.

    Giants add Brandon Stokley
    ————————————-
and he had the same amount of catches as “sell out Steve Smith” did for Phila last week.

  8. ajknox88 says: Sep 14, 2011 7:33 PM

Stokley is really old. I remember being young enough to call him “Brandon Strokes a lot”

I’ll tell you who should be on the hot seat too that whole Giants coaching staff ! This goes back to that eagles debouckle a few things went right for the eiggles but that was made possible by this staff ! Reid takes all his time outs with about 5 min left and the Giants can’t call a first down play to end the game ! In my opinion they get out couched all day long somedays ! For instance late in the 4th quarter Sunday with around 6 1/2 min left in the forth quarter Skins driving around the Giants 27 going in,,, Giants down 7 Skins are most likely gonna at least get 3 making it a two score games ! Skins run the ball twice and no time outs taken by TC ! Time off the clock now down two scores with 4 and some change starting from your 20 all day !

  10. birdmantd says: Sep 14, 2011 8:02 PM

For those interested, NFL Network is reporting he beat out TJ Houzh and David Clowney.

  11. thetechnocrat says: Sep 14, 2011 8:09 PM

Probably the best guy left on the market. Not a bad vet addition for the bench whilst Nicks is gassing out with the knee thing again. Let’s hope it’s not a trend like that Oklahoma guy the skins drafted a few years ago.

  12. clavette says: Sep 14, 2011 8:28 PM

sigh… a wr when we need TE CB LB and coaches…

  13. mike913 says: Sep 14, 2011 8:40 PM

and how does this help the defense? if ur gonna sign an old receiver why not just sign randy moss . and if u want old players why not see what sehorn, LT , carson, banks, pepper johnson and armstead are doing at least they could help the defense

  14. mike913 says: Sep 14, 2011 8:42 PM

as for the giants playbook. i remember the joke going around that the giants only had 2 running plays off tackle and off tackle for a loss

  15. jimmytwotimes says: Sep 14, 2011 8:50 PM

Eli, please when you can put the game away this year and you break the pocket and run for a first down with now one within 5 yards of you please do not give yourself up untouched and fumble the ball it will be the third time if you do !

  16. nyjalleffingday says: Sep 14, 2011 8:56 PM

    @jimmytwotimes

If anything, for the epic end of the year collapses. Seriously, some Giants games in the past two years were just so pathetic and embarassing towards the end that watching it with my parents (huge Giants fans) has become very uncomfortable. Most recently the Skins game.

  17. jimmytwotimes says: Sep 14, 2011 8:57 PM

GIANTS D if D-Jax from philly catches the ball 50 yards down field on a broken play and trots into the endzone backwards without a blue jersey in sight from the 20 yard line just punk-out and forfeit the game I can’t watch it anymore !

  18. brownwood26 says: Sep 14, 2011 8:59 PM

Good get for the Ginas…Mike Shanahan (who had Stokley in Denver) is quoted as calling him the best slot receiver in the league. If he’s got anything left in the tank, their WR core just got a lot better.

Provided that steadily declining O-line can hold up its end of the bargain…

  20. jimmytwotimes says: Sep 14, 2011 9:04 PM

To Tom C, if all year long on my tv your gonna be red faced and ready to pop a vein in your head just forfeit the game ! Its old, real old and it makes the lose 10 times worse for us at home watching when the telecast shows this 20 times a game !

  21. giantpft says: Sep 14, 2011 9:08 PM

Just sign Mr.Randy Moss and move Manningham back to the slot…
    Problem solved!

  22. skinsdan says: Sep 14, 2011 9:15 PM

Its too bad he can’t play DB. Have fun with that retread, worst team in NFC East.

  23. jimmytwotimes says: Sep 14, 2011 9:23 PM

To Perry Fewell, Rex Grossman shredded your d last week Perry did you hear me Rex Grossman,Rex flippin Grossman ! I don’t care who was unable to play on d ! Did you see that the out side linebackers can’t get side to side this is a slow, slow, slow defense you better make changes the lack of speed on this d is scary same can be said for the offense too ! This team is stale and Ramses Barden is a flop get rid of this clown and make a spot for someone that wants to play in the NFL !

  24. petehemlock says: Sep 14, 2011 9:25 PM

    Same old Giants.

  25. jimmytwotimes says: Sep 14, 2011 9:33 PM

Dj Ware mans been taking up a roster spot for five years count em five years has carried the ball 35 times this is the crap Iam talking about if you aint gonna use the man look for somebody you are ! 5 years and carried the ball 35 time I don’t think any other team takes up roster spots for this kind of use ! Use the man !

Good news, Mr. Wright. They already have chemistry. Stokely has been a camp counselor at the Manning Passing Academy every year since all three of them have been in the NFL together (all three are from Louisiana originally). Plus Stokely used to be a Colts WR so he knows how to play with a Manning on the football field.

  30. jimmytwotimes says: Sep 14, 2011 9:57 PM

Oh thats right they tried an Eli sneak and Eli stood straight up and crushed his face mask into the back of his o-line helmets !

  31. greymares says: Sep 14, 2011 9:58 PM

Richard Cranium 212 watch Mr. Smith in game 3, and how can you keep calling the guy a trator for taking more money to play with a better team?

  32. jimmytwotimes says: Sep 14, 2011 10:08 PM

I think members of the GIANTS coaching staff are coming on here and voting thumbs down to all this complaining !

  33. jimmytwotimes says: Sep 14, 2011 10:10 PM

Is Eli in Rex Grossman’s class ?

  34. androk23 says: Sep 14, 2011 10:27 PM

wow you people are really reaching for any little glimmer of hope for this laughable, dreadful team. Truthfully, this team will not get any better until they humble thenselves and stop talking and acting like they are entitled to something. It has been like this for the past 3 years. Guess they are the new redskin basement dwellers.
    HAHAHA

Gilbride is sitting on a seat the same temp as Coughlin. After the opening week, I am not so convinced either should still be there. Although I wasn’t so impressed by the D, either.

How about Giants add..Lito Sheppherd or Marlin Jackson…they are tore up at corner.

  40. gritsmaker says: Sep 15, 2011 6:50 AM

the giants have struggled with 3rd and short and 4th and short since they loss to the eagles in their last home playoff game. gilbride should have been left go after that game.

the giants will go nowhere with gilbride calling plays.

  41. giantjeff says: Sep 15, 2011 9:46 AM

You just know that the moment an anylst sees him catch his first pass they will say…”He reminds me of Wes Welker.”. Of course they say that about EVERY white receiver in the league, but hey…
    – reverse unintentional racism is funny too.

  42. pigskinswag says: Sep 15, 2011 11:15 AM

Glad to see the former Ragin Cajun still in the league. Even at 35 he still can be productive. Especially with Eli(te) Manning throwing him the ball (I literally put my tongue in my cheek when I typed that last sentence.)

  43. Mr. Wright 212 says: Sep 15, 2011 12:42 PM

I’d like Briggs, but Reese is too cheap to pay him. Briggs is already overpaid as is, which baffles me as to why he’s whining so much.

All Giants fans agree, which makes us wonder why he’s still there. I guess like Jim Mora and Vic Fangio, Coughlin’s gonna go down with Gilbride being the one causing the ship to sink!
