That may be true, but this is a Ravens team that added Bryant McKinnie, Lee Evans, Bernard Pollard, Ricky Williams, etc. It’s not exactly the same Ravens squad. History is always fun to point at, but in the era of free agency (and now a salary cap), those stats mean very little.

The Ravens look like they made the necessary off-season moves, and Pittsburgh stood still.

From a fan of football’s perspective – the Ravens appear to be quite improved. The Steelers appear that they are complacent.

And while Hines Ward is right, it’s not the Super Bowl, this is probably the most heated rivalry in football. He’s also right in that the Steelers had a bad day – but fails to credit the other side with forcing the Steelers into having a bad day.

Is it possible that EVERY Steeler had a bad day? I mean, Roethlisberger had 5 turnovers. Polamalu was absolutely no factor in run support and got torched by a brand new tight end all day. James Harrison did very little. The list goes on….

If the Steelers simply dismiss this week as a ‘fluke’, they’ll see a repeat performance the next time these two teams line up.

As a Steelers fan who doesn’t practice self-delusion, I pray someone in Pittsburgh is paying attention because this post is absolutely dead on the money. I think the team was drunk on overconfidence and hoped they’d be so busy this week with their noses to the grindstone they wouldn’t have time to make idiotic comments to the media (like they’ve been doing all summer). Apparently that was too much to hope for. Yes, it was Just One Game … against our chief rival on opening day after a Super Bowl loss. Whether we like it or not, that’s a big deal. Love my team win or lose. But sure hope they respond like it’s a big deal.

Please, fellas, please … for the rest of the season … Don’t. Speak.

If you want to demonstrate what kind of team you are, STOP doing it in sound bites and go back to doing it on the field.

Maybe the Steelers are too old. Maybe the window has shut for them. Regardless, it’s been a good run (3 SBs in the past 6 years), and most teams dream of that. Maybe the Steelers recent mini-dominance over the Ravens is over, but it isn’t like the Ravens are a young team either. Younger than the Steelers, perhaps, but Ray Ray, Reed, and a few others are retiring soon.

And in the end, the Steelers have more SBs and that’s all that matters.

Oh and real men wear black not purple. How many of you have purple cars or purple suits? Why is that? Because purple is for clowns.

Just funny to see all the smack on a team lossing the Super Bowl from a team that thinks they just won one on Sunday.
