Week One hot seat

Every Wednesday, we’ll devote a segment of PFT Live to a look at the coaches on the hot seat.

Specifically, we’ll count them down, from five to one.

Check out the list, and feel free to agree or disagree in the comments.

We prefer “agree”.

Should be a picture of Toad Hailey instead of Sparano.

Disagree. Haley should be #1. Glad to see his methadone has kicked in. Looked like a crack head last year

honorable mention, Carroll? I mean, T-Jax isn’t going to keep him safe

Sparano was already on the hotseat before the Pats game – and he likely will be all season.

The Patriots gameplan was excellent – and it was executed near flawlessly.

I frankly don’t know what scheme could counter such a fast hurry up offense – and whether any defense could execute a counter scheme in that heat.

Sparano might be out of a job by the end of the season, but I’m not sure I’d lay the blame for that loss at his feet.

When Brady and his receivers are executing like that I’m not sure Vince Lombardi could beat them.

nice to see a hot seat post that the Raiders HC isn’t on after week 1

Pete Carroll Sucks….He should be #1….Feel free to remove my post you Gestappo!

Steve Spagnuolo should get an honorable mention. I’ve never watch a sloppier, more undisciplined team then the ones with during his tenure. For a “Defensive Genius”, they’ve really have had some soft units on that side of the ball.

Right….win the division last season…..and he Haley should be number 1 on the Hot Seat? That makes a lot of sense.
Yes, it was a terrible game. But that one game doesn’t move you to the front of the hot seat line. Give me a break.

Methadone is not 2 get off crack u idiot. It’s 2 get off Heroin. It doesn’t work 4 that either, but that’s beside the point. Methadone is just as bad as Heroin. It just gets the dopers off heroin & on 2 a drug thry can get taxes off of.

Haley shouldn’t be on the hot seat, he’s turned that franchise around.

theres a special place in hell reserved for steeler fans that post on stories that have nothing to do with them and who are oh-by-the-way still putting ice on their asses from the butt-whoppin’ they got last sunday.

ravens took the steel curtain and used it as their jizz rag stfu

Agree, they were finally looking like they were putting the pieces together and moving in the right direction and Haley has come in and has them heading right back towards the cellar.

Oh if it were but one game. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again…. for the Chiefs, who used to have such a big home field advantage, getting beat down there has become a trend. The Raider game last year…. the playoff game against the Ravens….. whether you choose to count the preseason or not, both preseason games this year… And before someone says the Rams won 14-10 in Error Head, they were up 14-0 when Bradford and company sat down… the Chiefs 3rd stringers made it close against the Rams 3rd stringers.. and then to start the season by getting drubbed 41-7 by a team that was 4-12 a year ago, the most people thought had a dreadful offseason (not that I agree it was that bad), the Chiefs and in particular Haley… have REAL issues…. mostly Cassel… but, yes… Haley SHOULD be on the hot seat.

  16. bwisnasky says: Sep 15, 2011 9:04 AM

And the Chiefs didn’t so much win the division last year.. they were a 2-4 divisional champ.. that benefited from Cable playing musical QB’s… and San Diego not being able to beat the Bungles and the Seahags…. Not only did KC win the division with a 2-4 divisional record, they actually got blown out by all 3 division teams… including a pitiful Broncos team… which then caused Haley to whine about Josh McDaniels running up the score…. much like he did about John Harbaugh running up the score in a meaningless preseason game….

I don’t understand why everyone seems to give the Colts a pass just because Manning is out. Caldwell is in charge of coaching the TEAM; if he isn’t on the hot seat, he should be.
The Colts management should also be questioned for not building up an adequate back up for Peyton. I know he’s Iron Man, but assuming your QB will never be hurt? Poor plan.

“Haley shouldn’t be on the hot seat, he’s turned that franchise around.”

You misspelled Charlie Weis. You know, the guy that Haley’s ego forced out of town?

  19. wfh88 says: Sep 15, 2011 12:42 PM

“And before someone says the Rams won 14-10 in Error Head”

Ahhh, cute nicknames…..the trademark of maturity.

Of course the Chiefs have real issues. Berry and Moeaki being out is a big one. The biggest is the lack of talent on the O line and D line.

But, you don’t go 10-6 in the NFL without playing a lot of good football. And you don’t do it with poor coaching.

Again. You don’t go 10-6…..and lead the ‘hot seat’ list one game into the next season. That’s not to say he can’t find his way there in a few
    weeks.

“which then caused Haley to whine about Josh McDaniels running up the score”

Um, that wasn’t what the Haley/McDaniel thing was about.

  20. wfh88 says: Sep 15, 2011 12:51 PM

“Agree, they were finally looking like they were putting the pieces together and moving in the right direction and Haley has come in and has them heading right back towards the cellar.”

Right. So, the Chiefs win 2 games and 4 games in the two seasons prior to Haley.

Two years into Haley – he has them at 10 wins and in the playoffs.

And somehow you find “putting the pieces together” before Haley…..and that 10 win season is “heading back toward the cellar”.

Seriously….Haley fan or not – trying at least educating yourself on the facts before you post nonsense.

The Chiefs don’t have a coaching problem. They have a front office problem. Who are the best players on this team?

Jamaal Charles, Derrick Johnson, Tamba Hali, Brandon Albert, Dwayne Bowe, Brandon Flowers, Brandon Carr…..all have one thing in common. Scott Pioli didn’t draft or sign them. Since Pioli got here, he’s drafted TERRIBLY.

He took Eric Berry, but my mom could have made that pick. Look at his first draft. All busts except a kicker who’s average. Second draft? Took two kick returners in the 2nd round when Terrence Cody, Sergio Kindle, Arrelious Benn, Rob Gronkowski, Lamarr Houston, Ben Tate, Brandon Spikes and others were better options. Passed on all them TWICE. Then takes a china doll tight end in the 3rd, and a guard who the jury is still out on.

This year, takes a gamble on a nutcase wideout who immediately gets hurt fighting a teammate. His noteable free agents? Who? Ryan Lilja, Steve Breaston, Kelly Gregg…. These are guys who round out a roster but don’t get you anywhere.

Quit blaming Todd Haley. Eric Berry goes down and he’s got Savy Piscatelli and John McGraw as depth. That’s a Pioli problem. He’s running us 35 million under the cap and Haley is paying the price. Don’t expect Haley to cook a 5 star meal when Pioli is shopping at Aldi for the ingredients.
