Catching up with Ron Rivera

The Panthers lost in Week One, but there was a lot to like about the performance.

Cam Newton had an incredible first start, Steve Smith seemed like the old Steve Smith, and cornerback Chris Gamble enjoyed a great day tracking Larry Fitzgerald.

Of course, there was a lot not to like too. Defensive leader Jon Beason was lost for the season and special teams gave up a decisive punt return score.

Coach Ron Rivera joined PFT Live Thursday to discuss the good, the bad, and the rest.

Rivera did it the right way. He earned his position. There was no nepotism or good ole boy networking. He earned it. I think he’ll be a star.
