APMaybe Drew Pearson has a point.
For all the excitement that Dez Bryant generates on the field, he doesn’t stay on the field enough. Matt Mosley of the FoxSportsSouthwest.com reports that Bryant and cornerback Terence Newman will both miss practice again on Thursday.
It looks like Newman will miss his second straight week. Bryant also missed practice Wednesday with a “thigh contusion” and his status for Sunday’s game against the 49ers looks to be in doubt.
Bryant missed four games last year and was at less than 100% for many more. He hurt his quad against the Jets and was gimpy for a large portion of the game.
UPDATE: Jerry Jones said Thursday Bryant will play. Newman will miss the game.

Uh oh.
The NFL should make full pad use part of the uniform code. Then it’s “stars” could stay on the field and every one would have the same limitation the extra weight and constriction of thigh pads, etc, would create.
Hello
Good morning randy
Whos this
Its jerrah
BUST!
Dez will play. Didn’t you post an article this time last week saying Mike Jenkins and Tyron Smith will be out for up to 4 weeks?
If they lose versus the Niners, I’m gunna laugh for a week.
This is good news for the Niners. They may just catch Dallas in this game.
And I thought Jerry Angelo had the market on bad drafting.
hahahaha .. YES! Now we can just focus all the attenntion on Austin and Witten!!
Too bad, it is exciting to watch him play and who can honestly say they’ve had that kind of success playing against Revis? I hope Bryant gets healthy and back on the field soon.
Newman is beyond worthless. Has been for a really long time. Dez is headed that way.
He will spend his off day getting thrown out of shopping malls and wearing baggy shorts.

Genius point. I often wonder how one would get a thigh bruise wearing thigh pads.
How good is a guy that can’t even get on the field?
Then maybe he shouldn’t be returning punts. Hey, didn’t some guy named Jones already suggest that?
And bringbacktheflex is right. Instead of telling all the defensive players not to hit those lil fellas, maybe the commish could make the offensive players wear their protective equipment.
Let’s go Niners! Harbaugh and the red and gold need to capture the opportunity to take down the Cowboys and continue to grow as a young team. The tools are there, just keep getting better!!!
bryant is expected to play even after missing both practices. do you not remember plax used to sit out of practice every week but played in every game?(giants)
Dez Bryant is a talented receiver and makes huge plays for Dallas. That being said,it doesn’t mean a damn thing when you can’t stay healthy for even a full game. Dez isn’t a bust but that is only because Dallas was lucky enough to draft him late in the first round. If he can work on his conditioning and stay healthy then he’ll be a real asset to the Cowboy franchise, if not though…well we all know how that goes, Marion Barber anyone?
Also just thought I’d add. Dez Bryant does have heart. As a Falcons fan, I watched Dallas play last season when Tony went out for the season and the whole moral on the Cowboys faltered. Dez was the only one on the offense that really stepped up.
Dez will use the time off to attend a financial planning seminar being held by Chris McAlister and featuring guest speakers Bernie Kosar and Mark Brunell.
Bet jerry is having second thoughts about the ceremonious way in which he gave bryant number 88 last year. Hah!
@clintonportisheadd:
I thought Art Schlichter was headlining?
Must be missing practice due to that X-rated conversation between him and Revis.
Here is an easy solution….Hey, Jerry! Stop puting your big playmaker on kick returns!!!!
What do you expect they originally had the guy returning kicks and punts and you want him full speed at WR??? How is he not suppose to get hurt?
Kid has TONS of talent, let him show it by keeping him at WR and thats it!
Dez is like so many of the “divas” that play in the NFL today, they think that their high draft status and publicity automatically makes them a star. Crabtree, Britt, Dez, Bray Edwards, Sid Rice, Bowe, Roy Williams, etc. etc. to name but a few. They don’t realize that they have to put the time and effort into being a star in the NFL…..makes you miss the good ole’ days where players played with broken bones instead of sitting out 2 weeks with a broken fingernail like today’s divas do.
Dez’s heart isn’t in football becuz his mind is on all his financial troubles. He thinks he should be treated like a Brady, Manning, Fitzgerald, A. Johnson, Welker, etc. etc., guys you have to drag off the football field. Until and IF Dez ever decides that “playing football” is his main objective, the guy will never live up to his so-called potential. Let’s not forget, the dude had baggage in college and he seems to have bought it with him to the NFL.

You really he’s thinking about his financial troubles?!
LOL
Next to Michael “Ow My Foot” Crabtree, Dez Bryant is an iron man.
I consistently feel myself getting dumber everytime I take 2 minutes to read any comments about the Cowboys, a Cowboys current or former player, Jerry Jones, etc. 80%+ of the comments are so completely over the top, illogical or just flat-out dumb…a significant increase from 50% of the comments for the rest of the stories on this site.
who cares about the irrelevant 6-10 boys?
Guess the site just updated this, but Jerry’s comment today that Dez WILL play has been up on their site for awhile now. PFT is kinda bad at this but someone earlier mentioned the fact that this site ran with the story that Jenkins and Tyron Smith would be out 2-4 weeks based on a source’s story and like an hour later the official website of the Cowboys said that that rumor was false and they would be listed as day-to-day with a good chance to play that coming Sunday. It is one thing to post about the rumor from the source but when the official word comes out to at least update that original story or run a new one which they never did here.
At least Newman won’t play…I prefer that the rookies play after watching him (or rather, not watching him) play over the last couple of years.
I’m not a Niners fan but how could anyone root for the cowboys with cats like this and Romo on the team.
To them, there is no I in team but there sure is “me” if you rearrange the letters a bit.
The Cowboys are about to crush the 49ers, and everyone knows it.
Haters are irrelevant.
