What a gracious and galvanizing gesture by JP. Bears you need to channel the emotion onto the field. 911 took a lot out of the NY teams last week, for good reason. The Giants lost looking real bad and the jets have romo to thank for winning (not covering). I have been a Bear fan since Bobby Douglas blazed the trail for Tebow so I want this win as much as anybody. You will need complete focust to get it done though.

When a guy like Peppers does something like this it restores my faith in humanity. It shows that he (Peppers) knows that he is fourtunate to be who he is and to get paid very well to do something he loves. He has “payed it forward” in a true sense.
Regarding the idea that the organization should pay for that….Why?….They are paying all these players to function as a “team”..Its not just thier salaries that are being paid by the organization…its travel,hotels,and other things. What else does the organization owe them? Then when a guy like Peppers steps up and shows by his actions that,”we are a team” What else needs to be said?

I’m a Panthers fan who didn’t like Julius for how his tenure in Carolina ended, but he really showed he is a stand-up guy with what he provided in his teammate’s time of grief. I wish the Bears a great game today in honor of Brian’s mother.

Bravo, Julius Peppers. May I point out that when Sean Taylor was murdered defending his wife and child in Miami, Dan Snyder flew the entire team and a few of Sean’s team mates from the U for his funeral – and paid for the funeral. I am a Redskins fan and hope things are getting better here, but Dan Snyder is actually a pretty decent fellow when the chips are down.

A flight from Lovington, New Mexico to New Orleans probably took less than two hours, so it shouldn’t affect the team in the game. If Urlacher had the same respect for his team and they have for him, he would have scheduled her funeral for Tuesday, the off-day. Just shows that all he cares about is himself and not his teammates.

Where to start?

1) The Chicago Bears are hardly your average company

2) The players aren’t your typical employees

3) They have gobs of money, more than Julius Peppers, even.

4) They arrange team travel on an almost weekly basis

5) Urlacher isn’t your typical slappy, he’s a team leader

6) If the team pays for the flight, they control the flight; when the team arrives, when it returns.

7) Fly the whole damn team, and you may just cement this team even stronger

8) Pay for the flight for Urlacher’s teammates, and look like an organization that gives a crap about its players

Hard not to like these Bears. I have been a Packer fan since the 50′s, from early on I was taught to hate the Bears. I have learned to respect the Bears because of acts like this, the rivalry is alive, but it is a positive rivalry. Lovie Smith is someone Bears fans should appreciate, a real class act.

Pure class. Absolutely a great representation of the NFC North. Setting aside the team affiliations, I am a fan of the Bear’s players. There is a lot of class in that locker room. (Urlacher, Peppers, Forte, Lovie, etc)

I think the Bears leave the Saints at 0-2. This helps that cause…

I read Tony Dungy’s book. When his son committed suicide, the team chartered a plane to all go to the funeral. The players didnt have to ppol their money, throw a fundraiser, nor rely on a benefactor defensive lineman. A great quote from the book about the funeral held in Tampa, where thousands lined up to show their respect:

Edgerrin James: ” Wow coach, you are sure big in Tampa”

Tony Dungy: “No Edge, Tampa’s really big to me”

The team should have chartered a plane, and flown everyone out to support the cornerstone of their team for the past decade.

There is no record of Peppers being a reckless spender. This is an instance where he used his massive amount of wealth to do something extremely thoughtful for a teammate. I would imagine that if Peppers can afford a private plane, he is probably smart with his money. There is a difference between Dez Bryant buying hundreds of thousands in jewelry and Peppers paying one time for transport to a teammates mother’s funeral.
