Jason Hill, Aaron Kampman among injured Jaguars

There are a few unspoken roles about trash talking.

1. If you are going to publicly call someone overhyped, it’s best if your talent level is in the same area code as the player you are calling out.

2. If you are going to trash talk an opponent, make sure you are playing that week.

Jaguars receiver Jason Hill broke both rules this week when he called out Darrelle Revis and the Jets.  Revis said he didn’t know who Hill was, and he’s not likely to find out on Sunday.  Hill is listed as doubtful on the injury report.  Rookie Cecil Shorts may start.

“Well, he shouldn’t have been talking in the first place because he can’t back it up now,” Revis said.

Hill is hardly Jacksonville’s biggest injury concern.  Big money tight end Marcedes Lewis is doubtful to play, while defensive end Aaron Kampman is out.

Kampman has to be especially concerning.  He hasn’t been able to recover from his second ACL surgery in as many years. The team has to be worried that he won’t be much of a factor this year after giving him a huge contract in 2010.

Unbelievable. The Jets may talk a lot as does the coach, but at least they back it up. This dude isn’t even going to be playing in the game now???

Jason Hill = pu$$y and something tells me we will never, ever have to hear his mouth again.

Ted Thompson makes another good call. Feel for Kampy and the Jags, tough break, but that’s the game you play signing older fa’s.

Enough with this story already this hill guy shouldn’t have said anything just let him be…

jacksonville is not worried about the jets and sanchez, hill is right, jets are overrated, sanchez is average at best, and ryan…ryan likes feet

  9. goatcheez says: Sep 17, 2011 12:56 PM

The wild thing is, The Jags don’t actually need Kampman this year like they did last year. Jeremy Mincey became their best DE out of nowhere last year and this year after Kampman went down. But they said Kampman will be back in 3 weeks minimum. I’d say realistically 4 weeks. So by Game 6. 10 games are better than none.

“Revis says he didn’t know who Hill was”

Well good to know the Jets are studying…

  11. jucam1 says: Sep 17, 2011 1:08 PM

Not a Jags or Jets fan but Im pretty sure Jason Hill is bigger, stronger, faster than the poster calling him a “Pu$$y”… You sound like a clown calling in to question a man’s manhood through a web post… Revis is a beast and would probably own Hill…. But im pretty sure Hill is twice the man that some guy with Web Muscles thinks he is… He is after all a professional athlete…

  12. mikeyz6 says: Sep 17, 2011 1:16 PM

why would revis study the jaguars bench!?!

  13. willardj says: Sep 17, 2011 1:18 PM

Since when is calling someone ‘a pro-bowl player who is slightly overhyped because he plays in a big city’ equal to “calling out”?

I remain keenly interested in Aaron Kampman because he worked so hard in Green Bay. People really like him in Wisconsin.

I’m sad that he’s had trouble getting back. I have trouble with my jogging motivation when a joint aches … I can’t imagine the pain involved coming back from two disastrous knee injuries to get ready to do line battle in the NFL. Yikes. Hats off to Aaron for the courage he has demonstrated to try to make it back.

Aaron’s work ethic and humble interpersonal style shall make him a winner on any playing field he enters in his life. God bless you Aaron.

the jags are a really a sorry ass team when it comes to free agents and other areas. just a few years ago they signed nasty Jerry Porter to a big bucks FA contract and got hosed. Now KAMPMAN who is a good guy can’t recover from his knee injuries. The LB they got from the bills Paul P cant cover a TE. The GM Smith loves to think he can “discover” small college players to play in the NFL and has not been very successful. Finally they let Garrard go 3 hours before they owe him 8 mil and they say it was not due to money considerations, Weaver the owner needs to concentrate more on his shoe cash cow and stuff a sneaker on his marketing clown Tony Boselli ‘s mouth. Go to LA Jags and finish packing your bags.

Thank you for making Jacksonville look bad Jason!!

  17. minkytails says: Sep 17, 2011 1:55 PM

Very happy the Packers dumped Kampman when they did.

  18. bosscrod says: Sep 17, 2011 1:57 PM

No question Hill is a complete turkey. But get off the high horse RexCanCoach. The Jets back up their talk?? They’ve been guaranteeing a Super Bowl for 2+ years now lol!

  19. ogre2010 says: Sep 17, 2011 2:00 PM

And as for Lewis, how are you going to come out and say ‘this is going to be a breakout year for the offense’ and you can’t stay healthy?

  20. favreforever says: Sep 17, 2011 2:15 PM

Arrogant yappers usually do something to earn the right. Jason Hill has about 10 starts in 5 seasons in the league. He couldn’t even crack the 49ers lineup.

  21. shackdelrio says: Sep 17, 2011 2:20 PM

It’s funny how much more the media and fans care about comments like Hill’s than players or coaches do.

  22. itsmammoth says: Sep 17, 2011 2:21 PM

    Dez was killing Revis.

  23. rcg365 says: Sep 17, 2011 2:30 PM

    Hill who???

  24. favreforever says: Sep 17, 2011 2:34 PM

…actually, make that 4 starts in 6 seasons for Hill. Worse than I thought. Plus he is a miserable s.o.b. No redeeming virtues.

  25. robsterny says: Sep 17, 2011 3:35 PM

itsmammoth….Dez did not “kill” Revis….Revis did just fine…Cromartie was on Dez for the 1st half ,and had problems …Revis covered him in the second half…..next time actually watch the game.

He shouldn’t have been talking at all if he knew he wasn’t going to play in the damn game. What kind of man talks trash and then can’t even TRY to back up his words? It’s not like he is probable on injury report and won’t play, he is doubtful which means there is very little chance he plays and every player knows the extent of his injuries. That is why Revis is lashing back at him and of course he damn well should after this no-name started the whole thing.

As far as the Jets not backing up their words moreso Rex’s words, the Jets played in an AFC championship game 3 times between 1963 and 2008 thats 45 years, and since Rex became coach they’ve gone twice in 2 years. You’re right they have not accomplished their goal but they are knocking on the door.

  29. Foresight2011 says: Sep 17, 2011 4:44 PM

I have you know that Jason Hill caught 9 passes on Revis for 165 yards and 2 TDs as the Jags beat the Jets 31-20. He had a field day on Revis Island.

Of course it was on Madden 12, but he proved his point that the Jets were overrated in his Franchise mode with the Jags.

Ted Thompson must put a curse on the players he lets go. From Kampman to Brandon Jackson, Al Harris, ect… next on the IR will probably be Cullen Jenkins.
