There are a few unspoken roles about trash talking.

1. If you are going to publicly call someone overhyped, it’s best if your talent level is in the same area code as the player you are calling out.

2. If you are going to trash talk an opponent, make sure you are playing that week.

Jaguars receiver Jason Hill broke both rules this week when he called out Darrelle Revis and the Jets. Revis said he didn’t know who Hill was, and he’s not likely to find out on Sunday. Hill is listed as doubtful on the injury report. Rookie Cecil Shorts may start.

“Well, he shouldn’t have been talking in the first place because he can’t back it up now,” Revis said.

Hill is hardly Jacksonville’s biggest injury concern. Big money tight end Marcedes Lewis is doubtful to play, while defensive end Aaron Kampman is out.

Kampman has to be especially concerning. He hasn’t been able to recover from his second ACL surgery in as many years. The team has to be worried that he won’t be much of a factor this year after giving him a huge contract in 2010.
