Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles was carted to the locker room in Detroit today with what appeared to be an injury to his left knee.

On Kansas City’s first drive Charles took a handoff and tried to run around the right end on third-and-4, and as he was being forced out of bounds he took a big step and extended the ball in an effort to stretch across the first-down line.

Unfortunately, with that big step his left foot landed on the orange plastic first-down marker on the sideline. Charles slipped and fell, and the way his knee bent did not look good.

As Charles rode the cart to the locker room, he wore the facial expression of a man who feared he had just suffered a very serious injury. We’ll hope that’s not the case and keep you posted if there are any updates.
