Sparse crowd in Miami

In order to ensure that Sunday’s game against the Texans would be televised in Miami, the Dolphins and their sponsors bought up 10,000 tickets and gave them to season-ticket holders.  The pregame wide-angle shots of Sun Life Stadium showing up on the monitor at the NBC viewing room suggest that the season-ticket holders didn’t want them.

Only minutes before the scheduled 4:15 p.m. ET kickoff, there was more orange than human.

It’ll be interesting to see the official attendance — not tickets distributed, but butts in the seats.

  1. Still nothing about the game in carolina? 3 articles about the vikes……2 about the saints……and one about the seats in miami?????? Are you kidding me? Jim Mora spent the last 3 hours kissing up to Cam Newton ( the banjo playing bobblehead)…..and not a single article? Nice reporting…..or lack there of…….

  2. The crowd always looks like this in Miami before the game. Midway through the first qtr it will be packed. There is a lot going on outside the stadium before the game. Just watch the Heat games. Nobody is in their seats when the game starts. Dumb story.

  3. @ dfinpds who says:

We get it. You hate Cam Newton so you want everyone to hate Cam Newton. We all understand that analysts are expected to ‘relate’ to the fans by going over board to overtly criticize and hate, well… pretty much everyone. This supposedly makes you credible to the guy on the coach. But there’s a reason the guy on the couch isn’t in the booth—because despite all his bitterness, the guy on the couch doesn’t know sh-t about football.

Jim Mora isn’t the best analyst. But I watched today’s game and Mora did a fine job. He stressed Carolina’s need to run the ball because in the end, a lack of a running game would put too much pressure on Newton—which it did.

And he was right about pointing out Newton’s great plays—in particular the corner routes to Shockey and Steve Smith, and the long ball to LaFell.

Mora also said Newton’s decision to keep the ball on third and one was “terrible,” which it was.

In the final analysis, Mora was spot on today. See, just because YOU hate Cam Newton, and I’m assuming you hate most people in general… doesn’t mean everyone else has to.

Relax. Try to enjoy the game.

  4. I don’t hate cam……just sick of announcers like mora and gruden slobbering all over whoever is the darling of the game……and btw…..my point was that the coverage of half the games being played was non-existant…..if you call mora spot-on, then perhaps you need to have a strike against your man-card like mora does. Gotta cam-crush or what?

  5. Was Will Smith there with Marc Anthony? Come on PMZ!

Save the thumbs down, I know. I’m still hitting submit.

  6. You know what really sucks, im going to the dolphins game against oakland and i live 8 hours away.. I have to be grouped in with these fair weather half azz fans. Its becoming embarrasing to be a fins fan.. How can the team expect to win, when the fans dont even believe in them or give them a 12th man.
