Eddie Royal expected to miss 2-4 weeks

It’s Monday, which means it’s time for all the injury updates you can handle.

The Broncos have had more than their fair share of setbacks this year, and that didn’t change in Week Two.  Mike Klis of the Denver Post reports wideout Eddie Royal will miss 2-4 weeks with a groin injury.  Tight end Julius Thomas will miss at least two weeks because of a high ankle sprain.

Broncos coach John Fox insisted on Monday that Tim Tebow wouldn’t play wide receiver regularly moving forward, although he did grade out well in his assignments against the Bengals.  Tebow was forced to play wideout because the Broncos expected Brandon Lloyd to play.

“We thought Brandon was going to be OK. It was quite the surprise to us — and I’m sure to him, too — that it wasn’t feeling very well on Sunday afternoon,” executive John Elway told 102.3 in Denver.

Fox was hopeful to get back some of the team’s injured players like Lloyd this week against the Titans.  Linebacker Elvis Dumervil, cornerback Champ Bailey, and running back Knowshon Moreno were among the injured Broncos on Sunday.

  1. With Orton they aren’t going to be in the playoffs any time soon. The injury situation @ Denver is a good oppertunity to let other guys step up. Wesley Woodyard was a beast and won the game for Denver with his last defensive play. Get rid of Orton next yr and some of the older players and start fresh.

  2. Hey ‘bigwin’,
The Broncos had no choice BUT to use Tebow as a WR. With the injuries to Brandon Lloyd and Demaryius Thomas they only had three WR’s on the game day roster (Willis, Decker, and Royal). When Royal went out there was no one else to put in for 3 receiver sets. It was a stopgap not a permanent fix, jackass!

  3. @nickfalzone10: Not only that but he did say he would do anything to help the team. Lots of guys say the right thing but how many step up and do it? Not many, they’re too full of themselves. Glad to see a little selflessness for the team.

  4. @tinbender2000: I agree with you 110%! It is indeed refreshing to see some selflessness on an NFL team for once.
