Everyone in Jacksonville wants to know who is going to start at quarterback this week.

Quarterbacks Luke McCown and Blaine Gabbert don’t know. Jaguars teammates don’t know either.

Tania Ganguli of the Florida Times-Union writes that the Jaguars were told to refer all quarterback questions to coach Jack Del Rio. Of course, Del Rio isn’t saying much.

“The only thing I’d like to say at this point today is that we’re evaluating the tape,” Del Rio said Monday. “We will let you know when it’s appropriate.”

“We’re just as clueless as you guys are,” wide receiver Mike Thomas said.

Del Rio will probably keep things secret as long as possible. Delaying the decision seems to bode well for Gabbert. Thomas would like to see McCown get another shot.

“Personally, you would hope Luke gets a chance to redeem himself. I think you would always prefer that a guy who has a bad game would get a chance to redeem himself, but everybody knows the situation around here too,” Thomas said.

So what’s the situation?

“You take a quarterback at 10. Nine times out of 10, guys who are taken that high, they play. That’s the situation.”
