Kenny Britt trial postponed

Titans receiver Kenny Britt was due to stand trial today on charges arising from allegations that he crushed what police believed was a marijuana cigarette.

Conor Orr of the Newark Star-Ledger reports that the trial has been postponed, due to Britt’s hiring of a new lawyer, along with additional information that Britt’s lawyer wants from prosecutors before proceeding.

Britt was not present in court for the hearing that resulted in the continuance.  No new date has been set for the trial.

Why was it postponed? Did Haynesworth have every court in America busy with all of his lawsuits?

If he wasn’t playing so well it wouldn’t have been postponed.

“…he crushed what police believed was a marijuana cigarette.”

This is like a cop finding an empty beer bottle during prohibition.

One day, we’ll look back at this and laugh at how silly the battle against weed was.

The prosecutors don’t have any more important cases to pursue? And we pay them to do this? No wonder killers like Casey Anthony get away with murder.

How about keeping your funky ciggs at home and enjoying them there instead of putting yourself at risk of more problems wtih the law.

Britt is just “playing” the legal system game…his money ensures Britt can hire good attorneys to play it for him. The issue here isn’t whether or not weed should be legal (I happen to think it should be)…the issue is that it is currently ILLEGAL. The second issue is Britt is a repeat offender…he CONTINUES to get arrested for a variety of offenses. He’s a talented receiver, but that will only take him so far. If Britt continues to get arrested, he’ll face suspension(s). The Titans have already been down this road with Adam “I wanna make it rain” Jones. It doesn’t matter how good Britt is if his off-field behavior keeps him off the field. He appears to be one of those guys who just doesn’t get it.
