Tyrell Johnson is having a bad week.

On Sunday, the Vikings safety dropped what would have been a game-saving interception against the Buccaneers.  Early today, he was arrested for suspicion of impaired driving.

Specifically, the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports that Johnson was booked for fourth-degree DWI.

Johnson arrived at the jail at 3:15 a.m. local time.  He was released roughly two hours later.

I think he was probably already “impaired” when he dropped that easy interception!

Tyrell clearly isn’t making enough money to hire a driver…

LOLOLOLOL!!! This is why he would never be a Steeler.

Keep him. He doesn’t deserve to be on the field.

  6. carson9 says: Sep 20, 2011 11:19 AM

How come any time an average citizen is arrested for this its because he/she was driving impaired. Any time its an NFL player, they always throw “suspicion” in there as if the arresting officer really couldnt come to a conclusion.

  7. jessieboom says: Sep 20, 2011 11:20 AM

Suspicion? Sounds like he refused to give a breathalyzer, which i think makes him automatically guilty on a lesser degree

Big things for the Vikings this year!

  9. grilledjesus says: Sep 20, 2011 11:27 AM

I’d be drinking too if I was on that team.

Maybe his game costing play caused him to “lube up”????

  13. coleman121280 says: Sep 20, 2011 11:30 AM

I’m the biggest vikings fan there is but I have absolutely no illusions of playoffs this year. I’m hoping to see ponder in by week 8. Were getting old, slow, and we need to gut that secondary up. Antoine is playing up to what he was 3 yrs ago when we extended him and our safties lack playmaking ability and overall coverage skills to. top that with the most predictable blitz with greenway and ej both hitting the sam gap time after time after time after time again.

the defense shows as much imagination as our offense has shown us. Berrian is non existent out there and never fights for the catch or for positioning. The only reason why we kept him is b/c seattle was gonna snatch him up, that and what else were we gonna do. anyways i’m ranting. its gonna be a long season.

  14. purpleloki says: Sep 20, 2011 11:32 AM

Well at least that’s one thing he can catch… A buzz

  15. christinamer says: Sep 20, 2011 11:34 AM

We can only hope this is the straw that has broken the camel’s back. His departure from Minnesota is long overdue.

  16. davikes says: Sep 20, 2011 11:37 AM

Really dumb, but he wasn’t completely blotto or they wouldn’t have let him out two hours later.

You’re right. If he were a Steeler, he would have sexually assaulted someone in the bathroom before driving home drunk.

  20. thephantomstranger says: Sep 20, 2011 11:48 AM

Failed draft pick. He’s never done anything on the field and now it turns out he’s a loser off the field too. I would cut him.

  21. vikefan says: Sep 20, 2011 11:49 AM

yea, maybe is off field thing will be the last straw since the vikings dont seem to care how he plays on the field.
i luv AP with the best of em but oline, linebackers, & secondary are so average to below average against rest of nfl talent it is time to trade greenway & ap for 4 or 5 first rounders and a few seconds…….ooops wait, that means we would need to know what we are doing in the draft room, 2nd thought, lets start picking up NE scrubs

Here’s one Packer fan that isn’t going to rip the guy.
I was young once as well and made a poor choice to drink and drive. I have an owi on my record permanently. Made a poor choice, but luckily no one was harmed in my bad decision. Hope the kid owns up, makes the necessary changes and learns from it. Hopefuly he will look back and be thankful he got cought before it led to more damages to himself, or worse innocent civillians.

7thkinbardiontheway fits the mold of your average steeler fan. That’s just one reason why pittsburgh is one of the most hated franchises in the league.

    7thlombardiontheway –

You’re making an arse out of yourself. Fellow Steeler fans are embarrassed of you.

    Oh…BTW… 31-25 FINAL – SB45.

    Suck it.

  29. tjacks7 says: Sep 20, 2011 12:29 PM

Cool another safety incapable of making a play for the vikings. Vikings won’t miss him if he’s suspended at least.

  30. purpleguy says: Sep 20, 2011 12:32 PM

If I dropped the game-winning INT that hit me in the chest, I’d probably get hammered too.

Uhm, he’s not a Steelers fan.
He’s been name-swapping and trolling Jets threads too.
He’s just a garden variety, attention-starved troll, and you fell for the bait.

Johnson needs to realize he’s only 1 year away from the team relocating to Los Angeles. He can do all the clubhopping he wants out there but remember to get a designated driver.

  36. canadianvikingfaniii says: Sep 20, 2011 2:02 PM

I hope he is dropped, he is a horrible safety.

  37. deconjonesbitchslap says: Sep 20, 2011 2:30 PM

when they picked him in the 2nd round, the pick made sense. he was a steal according to draft experts. but draft experts don’t know their head from their ass. he just has not worked out. he is pretty terrible. he isn’t even starting anymore. this will solidify his departure from the team.

  38. chatham10 says: Sep 20, 2011 2:54 PM

I just do not understand this guy, he made the team and now I will bet he will be gone, but I guess since he played in the game his salary is locked in for this year. Very stupid.

  39. vikefan says: Sep 20, 2011 4:28 PM

he should have been with amy sensor, then he could have even hurt someone and gotten by with it.

  40. cometkazie says: Sep 20, 2011 5:09 PM

How many degrees of DWI are there?

  41. jebdamone says: Sep 20, 2011 7:02 PM

good…tyrell is terrible anyway. i have no idea why he is still splitting halves with jamarca sanford but we all saw how great a job he did out there in that second half.

  42. gdeli says: Sep 20, 2011 8:07 PM

bring back benny sapp! no just kidding. It’s gonna be a long season. Better have a #2 and #3 team to root for. I agree gut and redo the secondary except winfield and abdullah. swiss cheese defense and no real offense other than poor adrian. I think he will ever get a ring here. 50 years of wth?

  43. dd393 says: Sep 20, 2011 9:18 PM

Sounds as though the Vikings season is in full swing. DUIs now, boat rides later once the lake thaws.

  44. favreblows says: Sep 20, 2011 9:54 PM

Big surprise. Typical start to a meltdown season for the Vikes. It is going to be one hell of an ugly year.

Boy….you sure don’t hear from Paul Hargis the Idiot anymore. Guess he ran out of things to say. Moron.

No, it isn’t a suprise. No one thought the Vikings would win more than 8 games tops.

I see you haven’t gone and seen a psycho analyst like I suggested. Being infatuated with a nameless faceless person on the internet is not normal. It’s comical that after all this time, you are still bringing me up.
Too bad about your boy Collins- think I’ll go ask Max Mcgee what he thinks about it.

Seriously though- isn’t it about time for you to hang it up? You get no play on here unless you mention my name. No one cares what you have to say, it’s all inane gibberish repeated ad nauseum anyway.
I hope you slip and fall in a puddle of luekemia.

  46. randleguy says: Sep 22, 2011 7:27 PM

The Police officer that locked him up, was probably watching the game, and figured he was drunk because he could not catch that ball for a interception. How easy of a play would that have been. Bring back Benny Sapp he can play rotation saftey!!!!!!!!!!
