Maclin on Rolle: When people talk, they’re insecure or scared

Philadelphia Eagles v New York Giants Getty Images

We noted this morning that Giants safety Antrel Rolle said he didn’t want to hear any excuses coming out of Philadelphia when the Giants put it on the Eagles on Sunday. When those comments got back to Eagles receiver Jeremy Maclin, he had an interesting response.

“He’s just talking,” Maclin said of Rolle, via CSNPhilly.com. “A lot of times when people talk, they’re either insecure or scared. You guys choose.”

Maclin said he thinks his teammates will brush Rolle’s comments off.

“I don’t know what he’s trying to do but he’s not going to intimidate, not going to scare nobody in this locker room,” Maclin said.

We’re enjoying this little back-and-forth between the two NFC East rivals. Now we’ll hope they give us an enjoyable game on Sunday.

Once Rolle is burned by Maclin on a long play, maybe he’ll fake an injury like his teammates do.

The Steelers superiorty through history is evident. Still, recent changes to the NFL have been put in place to prevent the Steelers from having further success. The NFL will be unsucessful in this attempt as we approach #7 this year, but it leaves a bad taste in our mouths. We feel unwanted.

Just because we are better than every other team (and their empty trophy cases) doesn’t mean we should be punished for it. We welcome competition (even if it comes WAY short) but these rules and fines are being used to SABATOGE the most decorated franchise this sport has known.

The SFL will change this game back to itself, it’s old self. No more offensive protection. Every player is equal. That’s why they wear pads. Nothing should have changed. No more outragous rules and fines that are consistently controversial. No more TMZ-like reporting in football! No more maximizing profits at the sake of the game!

This is a man’s game! Just let them play!

The league will consist of the Steelers organization (this means the superior facets listed in other posts on this site) ONLY. We will establish rules from the ground up. These rules will stick to the foundations the game was based on. 112 members of the NFL may enter this league after deemed “pure”. We’ll introduce our own draft system that will occur every year (details still need arrangement). The orginal Steelers team (in all it’s glory) will be divided into eight teams for the first season. The system is subject to change after every football year.

I’m merely an underground messenger of this news. Media outlets will begin to provide more details once the Super Bowl is won. News cannot be released before the Super Bowl in fear of backlash from the NFL and it’s associates. The Steeler Nation thanks you for your patience.

I don’t think its worth talking smack when you are 0-8 in the last 8 meetings against a team in the NFL. Especially a division opponent.

Not saying the Eagles will win, or the Giants will lose, but if I was the Giants, I wouldn’t be talking smack. Especially when your O-Coord is still crying about losing Smith, and the guy you had pegged to replace him tore his ACL last week.

  21. mhalt99 says: Sep 21, 2011 3:02 PM

A guy that had been with the team for all of 5 minutes labeled them the dream team. Then a guy who had been with the team for 10 minutes backed it up.

No disrespect to Young or Babin but it wasn’t like Peyton Manning or Brady or Ray Lewis came in making noise.

Kinda like when Antrele Rolle talks…nobody listens…just with the eagles, they were the flavor of the week at the time and websites need to sell page views

That question is moot because it looks like Osi has decided not to play Sunday. Something about his knee, or is it his contract, or maybe his vaginismus is acting up again? The Giants can always trade him for value. I understand teams are just lining up for a chance to get Osi with his damaged knees and piss poor attitude.

  30. norcaleagles says: Sep 21, 2011 3:12 PM

People should talk sh– on the Eagles more often. Classless players, organization and fans. It’s no surprise you guys have never won a Super Bowl. No one is scared of the Eagles; they run a soft west coast offense and their receivers either run out of bounds or dive on the ground to avoid hits. Unlike Vick, who gets sacked into his own teammate and can’t return to the game.

  43. norcaleagles says: Sep 21, 2011 3:33 PM

Hey MDS, why dont you or one of the other PFT writers type something up about the Eagles O-line?? You guys and every other football related website did nothing but bash them and say that they will keep Philly from being an elite team. Im not saying they’re the best in the league, but you guys have to admit they have played well, or at least a lot better than everyone was claiming they would. Herremans to Right Tackle was a much needed move. He’s on his way to giving this team 2 Pro-Bowl tackles with Peters on the other side.

  50. RexCanCoach says: Sep 21, 2011 3:41 PM

    7 rings,

Steelers are not really that relevant in 2011. They were EXTREMELY lucky to beat Jets in AFC championship last year, thus the Packers exposed them for what they are — a 2nd rate team.

But you are not allowed to jump on the Jets bandwagon now, your bed is made, and the Jets dominance is about to begin. Watch and learn.

  51. norcaleagles says: Sep 21, 2011 3:41 PM

And I dont think McCoy is “scared” of the giants. For one, he’s never lost a game vs the giants. And 2, he’s been playing great football since last season. He led the NFC in total yards last season. He had the 3rd or 4th best yards per carry average in the NFL. He led all NFL RBs with 78 catches last year. He led the NFL in yards per carry during the 4th qtr. He took over about 4 or 5 games last season in the 4th quarter and won those games for us. Giants fans probably remember his 50 yrd TD run to seal the game in the 1st meeting last year, and then on the next drive he broke off another 4o yarder or so to run out the clock. Remember that?? Im sure Osi does because he’s the one who whiffed on Vick during the exchange instead of sealing the edge and not allowing McCoy to get around him.

  55. vidiotz says: Sep 21, 2011 3:49 PM

McCoy talked, it was in reponse to something Osi said first. What he said was along the lines of “stop me if you can”. Judging by his numbers against the Giants, they can’t.

Eagles Shmeagles Giants Shmiants. Lets face it, This is a one horse race. PHI and NYG are both playin for second place behind GB. Pack gave both of you a whoopin last year (PHI twice). Im tired of hearing about PHI. They sucked coming out of the gate in week one. and sucked coming out of the gate in week 2. What are they goin g to do when suck coming out of the gate against a team they cant come back on. Ill take Rodgers to Finley/Jennings/Cobb/Driver/Nelson/Jones over Dogkiller to Jackson/Maclin/McCoy anyday. GB= 10x more explosive than PHI

And I dont think McCoy has anything to be insecure about. So far, he’s looked like the best RB in the NFL. And your secondary is no match for our offense. Maybe we should call them the “Gold Standard”, or the “All In Eagles”. You guys are going to have to live with the fact that the Eagles embrace that “Dream Team” nonsense as an organization.

“It’s a scary term, but . . . somebody wrote the words ‘The Eagles are all in,’ and that’s how we look at it. We’re doing anything and everything we can, we’re being aggressive about it, and the expectations are high.” – Eagles team president Joe Banner

“We’re kind of the gold standard. The goal is to win championships and do it with class.” – Jeffrey Lurie

  75. norcaleagles says: Sep 21, 2011 5:26 PM

PHILLYGIANT, You say “win a superbowl then get confident”. Lets see, the giants won the 07 SB but have since gone 1-6 vs the Eagles. Apparently winning that SB hasnt boosted your teams confidence when playing the Eagles. And hasnt boosted their confidence enought to make the playoffs the last 2 seasons. And when they DID make the playoffs the year after the SB, Philly went into the meadowlands and KO’d the giants out of the playoffs. And whats up with that little dive thing Eli does every so often when playing against the Eagles? You know, that thing where he scrambles out of the pocket and flops down on the ground and fumbles the ball(and the game) away to the Eagles without even being touched? If he does that one more time, I think he should have that move pattented.lol
