Chris Kluwe is back at the whiteboard

Vikings punter Chris Kluwe has become a reliable source of humor on NFL issues by taking to his whiteboard and writing out responses that make most of us laugh.

His first missive of the 2011 season appeared on Thursday and the target was the NFL’s memo to teams regarding players faking injuries to halt the momentum of the opposition.  He attached a picture of his handiwork to a tweet with the hashtag “somethingstupidwasboundtohappeneventually” and penned it in the form of a memo to NFL players from NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell:

NFL Memo on Faking Injuries

Anyone who fakes an injury shall be publicly shamed by having their official position changed to “punter” or “kicker”.  Remember gentlemen, this isn’t soccer. Play like you have a pair.

Good stuff from Kluwe. It works both as a joke about kickers and punters not being real football players and as a joke about kickers and punters often throw themselves to the turf when they aren’t touched in an attempt to get a flag for running into or roughing the kicker. They rarely get those flags and chances are that we’re rarely going to see anyone punished for faking an injury to get an extra timeout.

  1. Chris Kluwe’s jokes are the only contribution to football that the vikes will be making this year.

  2. The guy’s a genius. He’s a good punter who will probably break the NFL record for punts downed inside the 20, but he’ll make the Pro Bowl because of gaining recognition through this kind of stuff.

  3. If Roger wasn’t hanging out with Jerome “Cheech” Simpson, he would be all over this.

However, right now he’s mostly concerned about where he can find some Doritos and Mountain Dew

  4. The most outspoken Punter in NFL history speaks again.

Maybe he should focus on figuring out how to effectively Punt outside of a dome– in challenging conditions.

When the temps get below 50 degrees, he folds like a card table chair.

  5. Making fun of soccer is always funny to me. Nice work Kluwe, especially from a player who probably has played a lot of soccer in his time.

  6. I don’t hate on the Vikings players much but I don’t care for Kluwe or Longwell. Almost as much as I hate the sight of pug nosed Gary Anderson & his one bar helmet. Now I’m filled with fury.

What, did you steal that gem from Paul Allen? Pfff. You DO realize, if he ends up setting that record, that means he will be punting a lot…and that means the Vikings offense wont be scoring a lot! Think before you make yourself look like an idiot!

Yes, I did steal that gem from Paul Allen. What of it? Yes, I do realize that he would have to punt a lot to break that record and I realize that means the Vikings offense won’t be scoring a lot. So you’re saying the Vikings offense will score a lot this year? And I’m the idiot?

No, you see if someone tells a joke and you think it’s funny, then go ahead and laugh – it’s ok. If you don’t think it’s funny, go on to something else.
