APNot every high-profile player listed as questionable this weekend is a lock to play. Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Chargers tight end Antonio Gates, officially questionable with a foot injury, will not play against the Chiefs.
Gates did not practice on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday.
The “questionable” designation literally means that the player’s availability is a 50-50 proposition. For Gates, it’s currently more like zero.
Gates missed six games last season due to injury. Before that, he had played four full seasons without missing a single game. Through the first seven years of his career, Gates played in all but three games.

He was playing against the Pats last week but I don’t think he had a single catch. Wasn’t open, didn’t get thrown to etc….
Maybe he was already hurting.
“closer to zero”
pretty sure that means Doubtful
Thank you. Now let me adjust my fantasy team accordingly.
Too bad Gates will be out tomorrow. They’re really going to need him against the Chiefs.
So my starting tight end is Gates and my backup is Hernandez.
Gates misses more games than he plays but what the hell, it’s not like the DisChargers are ever going to win a Super Bowl anyway.
dbellina – Im sure even your closest friends and family dont care to hear about your fantasy team.
Oh man..the Chargers will really have to switch up their gameplan.. oh wait..nevermind
Fantasy geeks: I drafted Randy McMichael in the last round in a league where we have to have 2 TEs on the roster. I just figured I’d vulture over Gates until he was done. Happened quicker than I thought and what a first opponent: KC? Start. Go pick him up. He’s big, fast and though lanky, can make some good catches.
I have Gates and don’t need McMichael because I picked up Rob Gronkowski just before Week 2. But if you need to fill a hole at TE, I would definitely add McMichael. He has come through when the Bolts have needed him when Gates was unable to go. With Gates and Floyd probably out on Sunday, I’ll bet Norv is going to involve McMichael. He had at least one 2 TD game for the Bolts last year.
Another dark horse option is Kory Sperry, the third TE on the Bolts’ roster. He’s a young kid who’s shown some promise and some Bolts fans think he is going to have a breakout game tomorrow v. the Chiefs. That would be nice, but methinks that might be some overoptimistic homerism….I would go with McMichael.
He looked lousy last week against the Pats. Probably already hurt. And, for what it’s worth… to my eye he looked gassed, out of shape, and d-o-n-e. Sorry Bolts fans.
This guys wrecked. This foot injury is killing his career.
yeah joe because six is more than ten.
Go to Europe and rub some baby fetuses on it like Peyton Manning.
This may be the best news the Chiefs will get all year.

I too have Gates and Hernandez.
I think gates is starting to decline and I feel that this year I reached for him in fantasy. He is still one of my favorites and a sure hall of famer.
Um. I forgot what the story was and I don’t feel like scrolling back up. It’s annoying sometimes, and now is one of those times.

So growth hormones are third term, sentient, conscious beings, huh?
Could we at least not get our talking points from Fox News?

It doesn’t matter what term or if it they’re “sentient or conscious beings”. They are a human life plain and simple. They are a person. They are somebody.
