Manningham downgraded to out

The Giants are down yet another starting player.

Wide receiver Mario Manningham was downgraded to out Saturday after not flying with the team to Philadelphia, according to Bob Glauber of Newsday.

The news doesn’t come as surprise; Manningham was listed as doubtful. With Domenik Hixon also out for the year, the stagnant Giants offense is short a few vertical weapons this week. Defensive end Osi Umenyiora and cornerback Prince Amukamara are both out as well.

The Giants’ passing game was already struggling before the receiver injuries. They could really use Victor Cruz to step up at this point, but New York’s best chance for success against the Eagles will be on the ground. Philly mostly did a solid job against Atlanta’s ground game last week.
