Eagles asked Vince Young to keep an eye on Vick

Getty Images

The Eagles took the status of quarterback Mike Vick seriously this week.  In fact, they took it so seriously that, according to Jay Glazer of FOX, the Eagles asked backup quarterback Vince Young to keep an eye on Vick, and to report back to the training staff if he sees any signs of concussions symptoms.

We’ll defer comment on the wisdom of asking a guy with a single-digit Wonderlic score to monitor the functioning of someone else’s brain.

Meanwhile, Young is active today for the first time in a regular-season game with the Eagles.  Since the third quarterback rule has been scuttled, both he and Mike Kafka can enter the game at any time.

Yeah, that was actually my first thought when I read the headline.

I’m guessing they asked this of Vince Young because he’s perfectly suited to dealing with diminished mental capacity.

Vince being a great judge of character, LOL.

Mike, what’s ur IQ??? ur cynide comments against certain players are very telling of ur maturity level.

The problem is that Young is so dumb he has no clue what the word “symptom” means.

Jay Glazer should focus on MMA and his tan.

They actually asked VY to play video games and called in the impostor for the important stuff.

I’m sorry, but that’s completely unfair. The Wonderlic is hardly comparable to checking to see if a friend is looking confused or shaken. A few high quality NFL QBs have had very low Wonderlics, yet it’s only really brought up for VY, Tebow and Pryor.

I’m sure the giants are happy to be on the road, away from the fair-weather fans that will boo 3 minutes into the game.

only NY fans will turn their back on their team after ONE bad play. Sad and pathetic.

and for the record, I’m a Giants fan. I’ve lived here for 7 years and I still can’t understand the fans.

They’d have been better off asking the Vince Young impersonator to watch Vick.

  22. nachohippo says: Sep 25, 2011 12:57 PM

I think young took the eagles comments out of context

  23. ugaboogaloo says: Sep 25, 2011 1:06 PM

That’s like letting a three-year-old keep an eye on the burning leaves in the backyard.

  24. melikefootball says: Sep 25, 2011 1:10 PM

Oh that will work, half the time Young doesn’t know where he is or what HE LOOKS like.

  25. zaggs says: Sep 25, 2011 1:26 PM

I would say this means the Eagles are violating the rules on concussions. It should not be up to a player to make the call. Either they put Vick through all them proper tests, or they did not. It seems they did not.

Probably higher than Vince Young’s since he passed the bar exam. VY would have trouble spelling his name correctly with a Wonderlic score like that. Find a sense of humor, or just find another site to read if you dont like this one.

    Hey I have an idea. . .

Let the crazy guy keep an eye on the convict. . .

    ha ha ha ha

    who thinks of these things

  29. jessethegreat says: Sep 25, 2011 2:19 PM

They really just wanted to give Vince something to do. They were tired of him rummaging thru the other players lockers when they were practicing

  30. MichaelEdits says: Sep 25, 2011 11:05 PM

I was thinking about half of what Jesse wrote, the idea of giving Vince something to do.

  31. MichaelEdits says: Sep 25, 2011 11:07 PM

“Hey coach, he’s dizzy, can I play?”
    “No.”
“Never mind, he’s okay, I always talk using comma splices, oh wait he’s dizzy again, can I play now?”
    “No.”

  32. mkm1001tx says: Sep 26, 2011 1:17 PM

Most of you make me sick! Wonder how many of you are from Philly…even worse. You’ll be singing a different tune when Vince turns this team around. I think the coaches know a little more about their players than you do. And yes, I am from Texas.
