In the event there isn’t a term for when the Heimlich maneuver doesn’t work, we are officially proposing one.
The Viking.
The Minnesota Vikings have lost three games that they led by 10 or more points at halftime, falling to 0-3.
On Sunday, the Vikings led the Lions 20-0 at the half. In the third quarter, the Lions cut it in half. In the fourth quarter, another 13 points put Detroit in the lead for the first time.
The Vikings tied it up late, and the Lions drove down the field with the first drive of overtime. Calvin Johnson, who scored two second-half touchdown, made a falling 40-yard catch while being dragged down by Vikings cornerback Cedric Griffin to put the Lions in range for Jason Hanson’s fourth field goal of the game.
Inexplicably, Griffin was covering Johnson without help over the top.
The Lions are now 3-0, three games ahead of the Vikings in the NFC North. It was Detroit’s first win in Minnesota since 1997.
