McFadden’s injury status to be determined

Getty Images

Raiders running back Darren McFadden rushed for 171 yards on Sunday against the Jets.  But he exited with an injury, and it’s currently unknown whether the injury will be a problem.

Per a league source, it’s unclear whether the injury is a normal ding from which McFadden will quickly recover or something that will require attention, rehab, and/ore missed time.

The Raiders host the Patriots on Sunday.  And so a week after a reprise of the Heidi game, Raiders fans may call this next one the Go Tuck Yourself Bowl.

He’s always been a beast. It was only a matter of time before he got on track. All he has to do now is prove that he can stay healthy.

Raiders coach Hue Jackson said after Sunday’s game that Darren McFadden suffered a groin injury against the Jets.
The severity of the injury was not revealed. For what it’s worth, McFadden told reporters that the groin just tightened up on him late in the game, and he’ll be fine. “I’m good,” said McFadden. “I didn’t have any (injury).” It’s an injury worth monitoring throughout the week, but early indications are that it’s not serious. McFadden tortured the Jets Sunday, racking up 178 total yards and two touchdowns in Oakland’s 34-24 win.

Run DMC said in postgame interviews that he is OK.

From Steve Corkran Inside The Oakland Raiders blog (

Raiders coach Hue Jackson just revealed that star running back Darren McFadden left the game late in the fourth quarter with a groin injury.
Jackson didn’t provide a timetable for how long McFadden might be sidelined or the severity of the injury. However, a short time later McFadden said that his groin just tightened up on him and that he expects to be fine.

    against the Patriots? at home?

    McFadden will play…

Hopefully he is okay. If not i’m not to worried Bush and Jones can more than handle the pathetic Patsy defense.

But i still would love to see DMC roll up 200 on Billicheat.

If you have McFadden, start him next week, because the Patriots D can’t stop anyone.

funny how the media pretends this game never happened…I seen a 3 second highlight on ESPN yet 2 years ago when jets killed the raiders ESPN showed about a 10 min highlight…

What ever happened to that pigeon?

  23. bubbyfister says: Sep 26, 2011 1:21 AM

McFadden’s running style simply makes him look smoother than the other guys on the field and even the other backs in the league. His size, style, and speed remind me of O.J.

I’m more worried about the banged up secondary against Brady then DaddyMac out against the Pats run D. Bush and Jones can more than hold down the fort, but I agree it would be nice to see Mcfadden running the ball down The Hoodies D. Plus its just flat out fun to watch that guy run

  25. marshawnlynchlookslikepredator says: Sep 26, 2011 7:22 PM

oh but except Chris Johnson.. anything to keep that burnt piece of toast off the field… Rookie with the weird name filled in pretty nicely under the radar.
