To no surprise, Eagles quarterback Mike Vick will start on Sunday against the Giants, despite suffering a concussion six days ago.

ESPN’s Sal Paolantonio reports that Vick will play.

So why was Vick listed as questionable, when it has seemed obvious that he’ll play? A source with knowledge of the situation tells PFT that the Eagles wanted to hedge against the possibility that Vick would have unexpectedly experienced concussion symptoms on Saturday or Sunday morning.

Since the “probable” designation technically sets the bar very high, indicating that the player is virtually certain to play, the Eagles opted to be a little more careful, just in case. Also, because the NFL demands an explanation when a player listed as probable ultimately is scratched, the Eagles avoided that potential annoyance by simply listing Vick as questionable, even when there was really no question that he’d play.
