Britt has torn ACL

kenny-britt-arrested-7F5L2QE-x-large AP

The Titan fears have come to fruition.

Receiver Kenny Britt has a torn ACL, according to Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean.

Britt will require surgery to repair the ligament in his right knee, and he’ll miss the rest of the season.

It’s a huge blow to the Titans, who have lose one of the best young receivers in the NFL.

Maybe they can sign Randy Moss to replace him.

UPDATE: Titans coach Mike Munchak has confirmed that Britt has a torn ACL and MCL and will miss the rest of the season.

  2. lacharger2112 says: Sep 26, 2011 4:21 PM

They should check that elbow for the same thing. Did you see him drop that ball when he hurt his leg? I thought it was a lateral to the other team.

  3. ryan7977 says: Sep 26, 2011 4:22 PM

god damn…was it in the new CBA that everyone had to tear their ACL/MCL this year? wtf is that…like the 10th one?

  4. philyeagles5 says: Sep 26, 2011 4:23 PM

“who have lose one of the best young receivers in the NFL”

5 sentences is too much to proofread before posting, or do you really talk like this?

  6. escoboltsfan says: Sep 26, 2011 4:26 PM

They could replace it with one of Chris Johnson’s meaty dreads.

  7. chazzmon says: Sep 26, 2011 4:28 PM

Note to Chris Johnson- Wake up and earn your pay! Things might tough throwing with Nate Washington drawing double coverage.

  8. medtxpack says: Sep 26, 2011 4:28 PM

that sucks for the Titans but they still have some quality on there. Maybe TO haha

Over/Under on how long until Britt gets arrested during his rehab: 75 days.

  11. thesecplaysforkeeps says: Sep 26, 2011 4:31 PM

This is such a legit injury. Guy I play next week has him on his fantasy team.

  12. Nikhil Balakumar says: Sep 26, 2011 4:31 PM

  15. mrwaters says: Sep 26, 2011 4:38 PM

Stupid Mike…. quit trying to be funny with those unfunny jokes to close out a report !!!! Lame!!

  16. deepseabreeze says: Sep 26, 2011 4:38 PM

his name should be kenny brittle. gambled on him in two fantasy leagues and was enjoying the fruits of his labor until that horrible injury. this guy is a stud. with a full season he could easily lead the league in yards and tds. hope he has a full recovery.

  17. wewantmoretebowandfavrearticles says: Sep 26, 2011 4:39 PM

Anyone else notice how he quit on his team and just threw Robert Ayers the ball? You kinda knew from that moment that deep down he isn’t a guy who has the team first at all times. A true teammate who gave a damn wouldn’t have let that football go no matter what(except for a concussion).

  18. benh999 says: Sep 26, 2011 4:40 PM

At Moss’s advanced age, does he still smoke enough dope?

  19. denverdave3 says: Sep 26, 2011 4:41 PM

Contrary to what some of you think, these things reach beyond your stupid fantasy football teams.

Show some decency…that is if you have any.

  20. catdelmonte says: Sep 26, 2011 4:43 PM

Hes gonna take this one out on society

  21. thesecplaysforkeeps says: Sep 26, 2011 4:48 PM

    @denverdave3

    Hows Denver this year?

  22. pooflingingmonkey says: Sep 26, 2011 4:53 PM

The Titans should be concerned about what Britt will do while he’s away from the team. Players like him who apparently have little common sense, and who’ve shown a propensity for getting in trouble, sometimes suffer without the team’s supervision.

Here’s hoping he uses this time away from the game to heal, not to hang with his posse. He’s a tremendous talent.

  23. tennesseeoilers says: Sep 26, 2011 4:53 PM

With all due respect, Randy Moss showed us last year that he couldn’t replace our Gatorade boy.

  24. jayrams39 says: Sep 26, 2011 4:54 PM

That truly is a shame, he is very talented, and it is very difficult for a player of any position..especiall WR to come back. I wish him the best of luck!

  25. cujofriend says: Sep 26, 2011 4:55 PM

they should convert Chris Johnson into their speed receiver.

  26. bigbrad184 says: Sep 26, 2011 4:56 PM

I know it’s wrong to bring this up, but that’s Jamaal Charles last week and Kenny Britt this week on my fantasy team. This sucks.

  27. knowerofallthings says: Sep 26, 2011 4:56 PM

really sucks for Britt, he was starting to play well and they won’t be able to replace him with the same contribution.

  28. dafixisin says: Sep 26, 2011 4:57 PM

No more steroids, no more HGH (pending, soon to be)= bull market for ACL tears.

  29. btwicey says: Sep 26, 2011 5:11 PM

For those saying this injury is legit because ur opponent has him on his “team” – you guys are sick

  30. steelerfan999 says: Sep 26, 2011 5:16 PM

CAN HE GO TO JAIL AND BE ON IR AT THE SAME TIME

Clearly, you’ve never torn your ACL. The ball is the last thing on your mind, at that point.

Usually, it’s about 50-50, as to whether someone fumbles or not, if they even have the ball at that point.

    Talk about pain…

Your knee is a major nerve center. Tearing an ACL feels like being stabbed in the quad with a rusty corkscrew.

I’d liken it to having your funny bone hit with an aluminum bat…swung by Albert Pujols.

  32. Mr. Wright 212 says: Sep 26, 2011 6:00 PM

    Too bad.

Half our team is on IR. They can overcome it.

    Signed,

  33. chocolatebaconbutter says: Sep 26, 2011 6:23 PM

Unfortunate. One of the best young talents at receiver in the league. Such a shame.

  34. tebowsgonnagitya says: Sep 26, 2011 6:23 PM

Sorry to hear that. It was clear he had an idea how bad it was as soon as it happened.

  35. scytherius says: Sep 26, 2011 6:29 PM

Here’s to a stellar comeback next year. Give ‘em hell Kenny! here’s to a long, Hall of Fame career.

    jesus christ..

I wish fantasy leagues tore ACL and out for the rest of the season so we dont read about it in every other comment

  39. chocolatebaconbutter says: Sep 26, 2011 7:17 PM

Kinda off topic, but can PFT just make a blanket rule for posts? I’m sick of hearing about how “I play that guy this week” or “hope he does well except for this week!” or even “good thing I didn’t trade for that guy!” Even those of us who actually play FFL don’t care.

    It’s PROfootballtalk, not FANTASYfootballtalk.

Geez, if tearing two major ligaments in his knee is karma’s way of of getting back at Britt for crushing a marijuana cigarette or lying on a driver’s license application, I’m sure glad Britt never killed anything.

  41. 2ndaryinsanity says: Sep 26, 2011 8:15 PM

I love playing fantasy football as much as anyone…but what the f#$% is wrong with all of you?? These players are REAL people. I don’t think your fantasy football teams success/failure can be compared to these guys’ actual PAIN from season ending and/or career threatening injuries. Don’t you have even a shred of compassion?? You make me sick.

As for the dumba## who question why Britt couldn’t hang on to the ball as the ligaments in his knee were ripping apart, you are a complete idiot who would probably cry like a little b#!%$ if you had a hang nail.
