Report: Vick will miss 3-4 weeks

New York Giants v Philadelphia Eagles Getty Images

Last night, Eagles quarterback Mike Vick put the officials on notice that he has concerns about their failure to throw flags when he’s hit illegally.  The men in white and black may have a month or so to get their act together.

Howard Eskin of NBC 10 reports that Vick will miss 3-4 weeks with that broken right (non-throwing) hand he suffered in Sunday’s loss to the Giants.

The Eagles have three games before their bye week.  They host the 49ers before traveling to Buffalo and Washington.

If Eskin, who serves as the sideline reporter for the Eagles’ radio broadcast, is accurate, the 1-2 Eagles will need to rely on Mike Kafka or Vince Young at least those three games.

Eskin also reports that receiver Jeremy Maclin could miss next weekend’s game with a hamstring strain.

    HAHAHAHAAHAHAHAAHAHAHA!!!!

The Dream On Team just got slapped in the face by reality.

Putting a moron under center that runs around like an idiot, is NOT the prototype QB in the NFL – or everyone would be doing it.

The EMPTY TROPHY CASE CLAN is awfully quiet today?

    CHOKE ARTISTS OF THE CENTURY!

Thank you Nnamdi for coming to Philly!

    Victor Cruz – all day!

Eagles seem to start slow almost every year. Nov + Dec is when Reid makes a name for himself (sadly, not January).

If the Eagles win 2 out of 3 against inferior teams, they’d be 3-3 at the bye. and in good shape the rest of the way.

  6. highpowered350 says: Sep 26, 2011 7:28 AM

After some quick math that’s about a week for every hundred dogs he murdered, give or take.

  18. humbleminded85 says: Sep 26, 2011 7:45 AM

The winning formula for success in the todays NFL starts and ends with building through the draft, not taking the NY Yankess approach and trying to buy a ring. Not a Eagle hater nor a Giant fan, just someone who enjoys seeing an ungrateful, obnoxious, and quite annoying fanbase like Philly self implode in front of millions. Ok, maybe that is some monday morning hating.

  20. packeranddarien says: Sep 26, 2011 7:48 AM

    Par for the course.

The fact that he compares himself to the elite QBs in the league (Manning, Brady, Brees..etc) in regard to the lack of protection from the game officals is LAUGHABLE.

The difference between him and them is that they actually play the position the way its SUPPOSED TO BE PLAYED.

Where the QB plays with precision and timing and the ball gets out quickly and ON TIME.

Hey Mike, defenders wouldn’t be hitting you if you weren’t within striking distance of them when you have the football. I know you think you can extend any given play with your mobility (all a part of the Mike Vick Experience, I’m sure), but if you think you should get the same treatment as the other “elite” QBs, then you should actually PLAY like the other QBs, get the ball out, and let the other playmakers on your offense make plays. Pre-snap, those QBs know exactly where they want to go with the football. Why is it you have that problem?

Oh wait, MV7 is beyond reproach. It’s always someone ELSE’S fault. I forgot. Silly me.

Now, cue the twit who babbles “cue the Eagles hate in 3..2..1″ and any other sycophant who can’t face the truth.

BTW, I am an Eagles fan.

  26. burgundyandgold says: Sep 26, 2011 7:53 AM

So much for the Dream Team. This was so predictable too. Andy Reid cannot coach on game day, he can prep, he can motivate, he can help players with personal crisis but he cannot make quick decisions. He is the reason why the 1960 Eagles team has nothing to worry about.

By the end of the day the Eagles will be two games behind the Redskins with games against the the 9ers, Bills and Skins before Vick comes back – can you say 1-5 to start the season?

    HTTR.

I’m hoping Kafka. Yes, he doesn’t have the physical tools of Young. Yes, he had a bad outing when he came in the 4th quarter but I think that had to do with the aggressive playcalling when he came in.

You don’t bring in a cold QB and immediately call for a deep pass play on the first play from scrimmage. Call some short stuff for the first couple of plays. Simply put, I think Kafka is the smarter QB and has adequate physical tools. He will make quicker reads than both Vick and Young. He will get the ball out quicker than Vick or Young. He is a very accurate passer. He will not be featured on Sports Center with highlight reel plays. He will not throw the 50 yard bullet.

I’ll take solid fundamental football over Madden football any day.

Hey Mikey, football is a rough game, just like dog fighting. You are gonna get hit & smacked around. At least when you lose you are not getting drowned, electrocuted, slammed into the ground until DEAD, skull split with an ax or any of the ghoulish inhuman things you did to the animals that lost.

One thing you can count on, when Mikey gets hit, he will cry like a lady, it happens over & over every year.

  68. myeaglescantwin says: Sep 26, 2011 9:22 AM

well Andy, thaks for another loss directly resulting from your terrible coaching decisions. Goal line? lets run 2 QB sneaks with a guy coming off a serious concussion..

Vick does get hit alot, but he has no one to blame but himself. With that OL, you cannot have the clock in your head set to 7 seconds before you need to pass that ball. This OL is in shambles and you expect them to give you 10 seconds to throw. Also, a lot of these hits come from Andy bootlegging and rolling Vick out of the pocket and away from his protection..

unless something miraculous happens, It doesnt look to promising this dream team makes the playoffs let alone the superbowl.. Andy,, the seat is getting hot buddy.

  73. mwcarolina says: Sep 26, 2011 9:36 AM

ok, now if i am the Eagles, i start Vince Young over Kafka. Sure he hasnt played badly, but Young is the guy you signed as the backup in case Vick got hurt and while Young isnt as fast, he is mobile enough to respect and if Young gets hurt, you can go back to Kafka and Kafka doesnt have as much experience.

  74. wcdunkenfield says: Sep 26, 2011 9:36 AM

The Eagles were toast the moment Vince Young uttered “dream team.”

They’re 1-2. The QB has a broken hand and no confidence in the O line (and really, who would). They D can’t stop the run. The linebackers are terrible. The secondary won’t tackle (and have been less than average since Brian Dawkins moved on down the road.) And Andy is as lost as ever managing the games (see the lack of throwing the flag on the interception in the Falcons game.)

Is it too late to get on the Bills or Lions bandwagons?

  75. snowpea84 says: Sep 26, 2011 9:37 AM

Oh the ravens started at 0-3 and won superbowl. Grow up and get off the dog thing he did his time unlike alot of other criminals In the league.

    100% correct…I’m right with you.

My hope is that Kafka gets the nod, though I don’t think he will.

If the ball would just come out on time a little more consistently …with the weapons on this team…all would be good.

The O-line actually played quite well yesterday…Vick ran into most of the hits he took, not all of them, but…McCoy had gaping holes most of the game.

The offense will now be filtered through one of the best players in all of the league, Shady McCoy.

It was a bad day yesterday…never want the starting QB to go down…and well done G-men, congrats to the fans in blue.

It is still really early, and with the skill the Iggles have, it is nowhere near over. I think the offense gets simplified, more true to the west-coast origins…we’ll miss J-Mac for sure, but…

    That’s Football.

    Go Eagles.

andy’s coaching lost the game. back when he had an o-line of heavy maulers, he refused to run at the goal line. now that he has moved to light quick linemen he decides to try smashmouth. very few teams can line up the heavy personnel packages at the goal line and just smash it in these days. the eagles have the fastest team in the league, but andy doesn’t spread the defense out. stupid.

finally, to the dog people. the man spent two years in jail. you need to go pour ketchup on some rich lady’s fur, or some other ridiculous thing; then you will go have a hamburger or piece of chicken. get a life. most of you are hypocrites.

Sign David Garrard, cut Vince Young, make Kafka the 3rd QB. At least then the season will be salvageable, and the man who made up the stupid “Dream Team” moniker will be off of the squad.

“The offense will now be filtered through one of the best players in all of the league, Shady McCoy.”

    ————

And everybody will know it. Then we’ll see just how good he is.

    —–

I agree, we’ll find out more about McCoy, and I can’t wait.

Remember when Jeff Garcia QB’ed the Iggles…not a fan of his, mind you…or Vick’s for that matter…

But Shady gets nearly 10 catches a game ala Westbrook w/Garcia.

You still can’t stack the box with all that speed on the out-side.

I think the offense improves over the course of the next month, and the play-calling remains a little more conservative when Vick returns…making the Iggles more dangerous down the road.

It’s still early, no team should be too up…or too down.

    Go Eagles.

  98. kevpft says: Sep 26, 2011 10:14 AM

So Tony Romo breaks a rib and punctures a lung, and not only sticks it out through that same game (WINNING it) but is up for playing the following week.

But whining Vick breaks his non-throwing hand and has to lay on his sickbed for a month?

Tell us who’s tough now, tough guy.

By the way, it’s a small percentage of the payback this guy deserves that the guy who’s whining about people not being punished for illegal hits is the guy who’s never been punished for illegal hits, against dogs.

Enjoy the rest of yet another washout season, Vick.

Just shut up Vick. Good god you’re acting like a Giant took a running leap and speared you. You didn’t get hit that hard, it wasn’t the hit that broke your hand but your half ass attempt at breaking your fall.
Your team saw plenty of no calls against it, hell Maclin was able to jack a defender in the groin without a call, Celek was able to jack Rolle in the facemask with no call, and your line was able to hold damn near every play (JPP’s last sack he was being held while making the sack, Kafkas firs pick Lindval Joseph blows past the line and is held.)

  104. logic4sale says: Sep 26, 2011 10:26 AM

Did someone really say the BILLS and REDSKINS are inferior teams? Notice, the Bills picked off TOM BRADY 4 times, and Washington whooped the team that just whooped you yesterday. That was before they lost 3 more starters to torn ACL’s. Meanwhile, Mike Vick, Vince Young, and Mike Kafka give the ball away live it’s candy at a Halloween party. Plus, the defense for Philly has not lived up to the hype AT ALL. They’ll probably go into the bye week at 1-5 with the pressure of the NFL WORLD on their back. I just don’t see that team handling adversity, or the football for that matter, very well. Don’t worry Vick, I’m sure you can find another way to invest your money into some non-legal investment. I hear cat fighting is up and coming.

    Karma is a beautiful thing.

The Eagles are treating Vick like he treated the dogs he “trained” to fight. With the mentality of, “injured or not your going to go out there and perform, like we ‘trained’ you to”.

They should train him to “sit” and “stay” in the pocket. Also to stop the loud whining pitch that was coming out of his mouth after the game.

  115. goawayeverybody says: Sep 26, 2011 11:14 AM

As an admitted Eagles HATER and Michael Vick HATER, I must say, I find it extremely disturbing that the officials are not flagging flagrant and late hits on Vick. It’s like the officials are going out of their way to look the other direction. And some of these hits are happening both in the pocket and/or long after Vick has gotten rid of the ball.

Then again, maybe this is all karma. I just don’t know.

Andy Reid is a legendary QB developer? Then why trade Kolb, the guy who Reid developed, and commit huge money to an 8 season vet with a history of being injured who still hasn’t been able to figure out blitzes? That’s on the FO and HC.

We ‘ll be fine, no panic, we’ll see where the G-men and every other team is come Nov-Dec. While not a good start, alot of new players, rookies and coaches with new defense, and OL blocking scheme. Correctable mistakes, some guys will be benched, plenty of depth, we’ll see, it’s a looong season for all the pre-season super bowl winners, because this is how you would expect things to play out early this year. Both are terrible role models and poor excuses for men.

You would expect Vick, who “did the time, ” to be humble and have his ego in check, but that is not the case. He goes out runs his mouth, essentially puts the blame on others, and continues to show his poor judgement and leadership qualities.

This is not how a franchise quarterback and a “rehabilitated” member of society should act. Mike Vick needs to hire or fire his life coach because he STILL does not get “it”.

When he was first released and returned back to the league I felt like ‘hey maybe he changed’, but once adversity and his free will returned he showed it was just fad and not a dedicated change. He doesn’t want to become a better person, he just wants people to think that so he can make the almighty dollar. And you know what Philly fell for it and gave it to him.

Expect what we have seen recently to become the norm, because he has NOT changed. He tricked us all, including the man who put him with ego monsters Vince Young and Desean Jackson.

Vick never was, and never will be a good NFL QB, so this really isn’t much of a setback for the Eagles. I think the biggest issues they face, is the rest of the team isn’t playing all that well either. That, and they have three crappy QB’s. One of which, is out for several weeks.

It’s laughable to think people actually pin their hopes on such a chump(Vick). His fans are morons of the highest level.

First he had a concussion and would not play this week but of course he did, now he has a broken hand and will miss 3-4 weeks. Don’t believe it, he will be back much sooner than that and Andy Reid will declare it a miracle and attempt to use this to motivate his Dream Team. I am shocked Philly fans put up with his whining.
