I've said it many times before and here it goes again because it is STILL TRUE - As long as the McCaskey family owns the Bears they will be mediocre.

They sell out every game, they can't hear the boos because they're in a luxury suite, the team is a cash cow and they know they'll make tons of money no matter what happens - so why spend any more than they have to?

I'll admit that I'm not a huge Cutler fan, based on his exit from Denver and his sideline demeanor during games as a Chicago Bear (I've called him "Cry-Baby Cutler" on multiple occasions). At this point, I just feel sorry for him.

After giving up so many draft picks to obtain Cutler, common sense would dictate the Bears give him the tools needed to be successful...an offensive line to protect him; a good group of receivers (including a true #1 WR); some semblance of a running game; and an offensive coordinator who would play to Cutler's strengths.

Instead, the offensive line is a joke and Cutler is a high priced tackling dummy. The only bigger joke is Roy Williams as a #1 WR. Adding insult to injury, they got rid of a talented young tight end who was Cutler's best/ most reliable target in the passing game. They kept RB Matt Forte, but don't use him nearly enough (of course, it would be nice if the O-line could run block!). Mad-Man Martz is trying to fit a round peg (Cutler) into a square hole (Martz's scheme). And another thing, why won't head coach Lovie Smith grow a set and order Martz to call more runs??

What a mess!!

Being a Rams fan- I can tell you lovie smith is one of the most overrated defensive minds in the business. The Bears made the same mistake the Rams did with lovie- they gave him too much say in the defensive personnel selected in the draft. Look at the defensive players selected with lovie was DC in St. Louis- all busts. He even tried to rethread Archuleta and Kennedy and they failed him in Chicago too. Just remember, he got rid of London Fletcher because he wasn't a "lovie-type player" and replaced him with Jamie Duncan. All the guy knows how to do is play the Cover 2- if he has to make an adjustment, he is finished. How did the Bears far why he was calling the defense anyway?

"Why the hell would packer fans have an inferiority complex? I could a damn what is happening in Hallas Hall."
-------------------

I don't know why, but every packer fan I meet knows everything about the Bears. I've been a Bears fan since 1970 and I don't know (or care, frankly) about all these minute details they relate to me. Meanwhile, they have little to say about the Packers front office, inner workings, etc. The only conclusion to be drawn from this is that Packers fans spend a lot of time worried about the Bears. Sounds like an inferiority complex to me. YMMV.

And before you start beating your chest about Superbowls and everything, this was going on when the Packers were bad, too.

So, rebut all you want - and I'm sure that there will be more mentions of all the winning the Pack has done and the Bears have not - the pattern has been the same for decades. You're posting in a thread about the Bears and Jay Cutler, waving your peepee around about how much better the Packers are, proving my point.

Jerry is dumb.

How many draft picks does this guy throw away for either 30 year old players or on experiments like Dan "Lafelour"?

You've got an old defense, no depth, no wrs, no oline.

Load up on draft picks and get some competition for starting spots.

It's not like the scouts are bad. (matt forte?)

I'm a die hard Bears fan and I have supported Angelo up until now. I think Lovie is a decent coach, he has the players respect and I think they want to play hard for him but now we need a coach who isn't a good 'ol boy . I believe we need a a coach that defines tough Bear football. Lovie is a good guy but I don't think he is really smart enough to take us over the hump. And Martz is just a flat out moron not helping Cutler out with his pass protections and play calling and his inability to make adjustments fast enough. The lack of receivers was very evident against the packers.
Here is what I suggest. Moving Hester to mainly kick offs and punt returns. Maybe use him occasionally as a slot receiver. Draft or sign a free agent receiver who is big and mean. Put Cutler in shotgun more with some pass protections especially on 3rd and 15 I mean any one can figure that out. And design some plays that fit into Cutlers strengths like some s roll outs like Aaron Rodgers was doing.

"The problem is the McCaskey ownership. They continue to be notoriously cheap and short-sighted."

You can call them a lot of things, but they're not cheap. They bankrolled Angelo's free-agency binge last year.

And LOL @ Lion fans. Bears didn't steal that second game.

Why the hell would packer fans have an inferiority complex? I could a damn what is happening in Hallas Hall.

Bears fans seem to forget,

The Superbowl is call the Lombardi Trophy
The Conference trophy is called George Halas trophy.

We have 4 superbowls and you have 1. We have won two since your last win.

We have had two QB's in the last twenty years and you have had well over 20.

There is a pattern here.

I respect the rivalry, my next door neighbors are from Chicago and diehard bear fans so I respect most of your fans but start talking crap and it's time for a reality check.

"I love these threads! Packer fans have such an inferiority complex. If you want to know the intimate details of what’s happening at Halas Hall, ask a Packer fan. Why can’t you rubes worry about your team – or at least have a relevant point?"

-----------------------------------------------------

Says the Bears fan who decided to make the first sentence of his post all about the Green Bay Packers.

Why would Packers fans have an inferiority complex? (Other than the half of Packers Nation who sold out their allegiance to the team for Brett Lorenzo Favre in 2008)

I could care less whats happening in Halas Hall. And "we can't worry about our own team" because theres really nothing to worry about. Everything is peaches. LOL!

I personally think the staff over in Chicago is doing a great job. I love it. I hope they keep the GM and Head coach positions in place. I am a huge fan. Also, I think going and getting all of the NFC's ex head coaches, like Tice, Marinelli and lets not forget Martz although different division. I mean he made Kurt Warner and the greatest show on earth. They had no talent until he showed up. I hope they extend the contracts all of these guys for years to come. Urlacher was right when he said they are better than us. Were so lucky.

From my lips to Vince's ears.

It starts @ the top. The McCaskey family wants the cash. $30 mil under the cap last year, $19 mil under cap this year. Soldier field is sold out. The McCaskeys cannot make any more money by putting a good team on the field.

Lovie got a raise for getting under paid, lackluster talent to overperform.

The McCaskeys do not own anything else. The Bears are the McCaskeys sole income. When George Halas' daughter dies, Virginia McCaskey, the grand kids and the great grand kids and great great grand kids will cash out and sell.

Angelo is just doing the McCaskey's bidding.

“Angelo has hoped Cutler could elevate mediocre offensive talent while he tries to reload a defense undermined by years of poor drafts,” Hayes writes. Later on: ”Cutler isn’t failing the Bears. The Bears are failing Cutler.”

That last quote sounds a little to me like a writer not wanting to lose his ability to get interviews from Cutler.

Who were all these stud WRs in free agency available? And Olinemen?

They bid more money for Willie Colon, and he elected to stay with Pittsburgh - and is now out for the season.

The Bears are now paying for the mistakes in the draft from the past several years. They drafted firs round OT Chris Williams, who's been a bust imho - moved to OG. And now first rounder Gabe Carimi is out with the same knee injury from college.

Time will tell... But I don't feel Martz structures his offense around the talent, it's always the other way around.
