So much for Eagles defensive coordinator Juan Castillo saying Philly will keep the same starting linebackers this week.

Philadelphia has made a change; they will send rookie Casey Matthews to the bench. Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer, taking a break from his burgeoning boxing career, reports Brian Rolle will replace Matthews in the starting lineup.

Matthews has looked like a weak link since the preseason. The team moved him from the middle to the weak side against the Giants, and that didn’t work out well. Jamar Chaney will start middle linebacker, and Moise Fokou will stay at strong side.

The Eagles will also make a change at safety. Nate Allen will replace Kurt Coleman in the starting lineup. Coleman gave up a big play last week to the Giants, but Allen also struggled when he entered the lineup.

As for McLane, there has been no word of a possible rematch with fellow reporter Les Bowen despite Asante Samuel’s attempt to egg on the situation.
