Grant, Bulaga appear likely to miss Broncos game

Bryan Bulaga AP

There aren’t many reasons to think the Broncos can beat the Packers this week.

If Denver fans were looking for some hope, they could turn to the injury report.  It looks like Champ Bailey and Elvis Dumervil both are on track to return for the Broncos defense.

In Green Bay, it appears likely that running back Ryan Grant and tackle Bryant Bulaga will be out.

Grant will get a chance to possibly practice Friday despite his bruised kidneys, but coach Mike McCarthy said he wasn’t expecting Grant to play.  Bulaga looks “likely” to be out, according to Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

If Dumervil is back, the Packers tackles should have a tough time dealing with Denver’s pass rushers. Rookie Von Miller’s speed will give Green Bay problems.

That doesn’t mean we’re picking the Broncos, but it should make the game more interesting.

Gloating over an accidental injury? You stay classy Chicago.

Same fans booing their own home team in the 1st quarter of the 3rd game of the season. The Bears still suck…and so do their fans.

Last week, Marshall Newhouse made Peppers move back over to Chad Clifton’s side of the line because Julius wasn’t getting by him – I imagine he’ll handle Von Miller just fine.

  6. jackfnburton says: Sep 29, 2011 11:47 AM

As a Broncos fan I would say this helps, but the Packers could lose half their roster and still field a team good enough to make the playoffs.

    And that’s just scary.

  7. mmmpieyummy says: Sep 29, 2011 11:51 AM

No worries…they’re playing the Donkies. They could win with Matt Flynn handing off to James Starks all game.

  8. jimmysee says: Sep 29, 2011 12:05 PM

Also a first chance for Packers fans to see Alex Green on the field!

    And maybe Derrek Sherrod, too.

  9. glac1 says: Sep 29, 2011 12:14 PM

Just like the Miami game last year. The team is expecting to win at half throttle by resting players who potentially could be on the field. We don’t understand the definition of a “trap” game and fail to realize that home field advantage in the playoffs can be earned in October.

  10. mjs2012 says: Sep 29, 2011 12:20 PM

I agree that the game will be much more interesting. The Packers may only win by 3 TD’s comparted to 4 or 5!

… or you let the guys sit for a week and fully recover rather than play them and risk losing them for the season.

Marshall Newhouse did not look like half throttle against Julius Peppers last week.

Broncos D comes up big against a packers team that looked right past them !

the Broncos may very well suck,BUT they’re 6 points away from being 3-0…the Defense is alot better than people give them credit for this year.

McCarthy is smart enough to keep this team focused and they will look past no one. They may get beat and lose on a turnover or mismatch, but not looking past anyone.

While we’re throwing predictions out there, I’ll say that the Packers D and/or special teams outscores the Broncos altogether. Your team just got smoked by one of the worst teams in football ine the powerhouse Titans and now you’re thinking one of the best teams in football will buckle or look past those donkeys of yours???

Don’t quit your day job, weatherman. I see this game being over by halftime. Look at the bright side. You may get a true look at Tebow this weekend when they either pull or knock the Denver QB’s silly in this one.

  36. stavreafavre says: Sep 29, 2011 4:07 PM

Jeez, I don’t think the Packers are looking past the Broncos but a lot of the fans sure seem to be. I don’t take any week in the NFL as a “no loss” week other than the bye. If this game were being played in Denver I’d definitely look at it as a trap game. I don’t think the home crowd will let any lethargic play by the Pack last long, but any game can be lost if the team isn’t ready to play. Everyone was expecting to see GB crush Carolina by about 4 TDs and it didn’t exactly work out that way. Hell we lost to the Lions last year when they were still a pretty bad team. One game at a time, gang. Nothing but Denver right now.

For all of you saying that Denver has gotten “smoked” this year then you haven’t been watching anything outside of cheesetown USA.
I can probably go out on a pretty strong limb and say that Rodgers is going to be pressured more this week than he has in a long time. Doom, Von, and Ayers all coming after him with a backup tackle in, so good luck there.
And I’ll go out on another limb and say that Mr. Greg Jennings will be a noshow in this game against Mr. Champ Bailey.
Also for those that think Denver just gets ran all over… last week the Titans couldn’t do anything on the ground against us.
This is going to be the first game that all of our starters are actually healthy.
I’ll go ahead and pick this for upset of the week!

Wow, that is funny. I remember the last time the Packers played the Broncos. It was an overtime game in Denver in 2007. As I remember the Packer’s defense looked very suspect in that season opener against the Saints.
They were one play away from losing that game.

As well, the Pack was the 2010-2011 Superbowl Champions this is 2011-2012 and you are the second best team in your division. I think Denver has a 50/50 shot.

We’ll see how durable Mr. Rodgers is when Suh bounces his dome off the carpeted concrete of Ford Field…Can you say land of make believe?
