Jackson was just sticking up for his guy and maybe trying to create a little distraction as well. IMO, this "being himself" stuff is BS. Ocho's problem is he came from an undisciplined offense to a precision offense w/complicated timing and option routes w/o OTA's. He also is putting too much pressure on himself because he wants to do well. He doesn't need to be 'the guy' there, should get a little slack.

Still, there's no excuse for dropping wide open TD passes or running bad routes that cause INTs.
I'd still rather have Moss.

He doesnt look too old to me, having watched all the preseason and regular season games, he just looks lost. The routes are off, just too long or two short. He hesitates, makes the wrong reads, etc.

Take last week for instance, he smoked the man in coverage and dropped a wide open 40 yard TD catch. Thats not age, his legs did the job, he just dropped the ball.

He catches that and he has over 70 yards and a TD for the game. He drops it and he is too old.

The part of the story that is overlooked is that Hue is a heck of a coach, and if the Bengals had any front office competency, they would have made the change and promoted Hue a long time ago. If they did, Chad might be a lifelong Bengals and Carson Palmer might still be their quarterback. Instead the team sticks with coaches who produce mediocrity for way too long. Hue should have taken over for Bratowski as offensive coordinator in 2007 before he jumped ship for the Falcons, and 3-4 years later he should have been taking over for Marvin Lewis as head coach. If you can turn around the Raiders, you can turn around the Bengals!

Memo to Chad:

You're playing with Tom freaking Brady, possibly one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history.

Run the route you're supposed to run, keep seperation to be open, and he'll throw you the freaking ball.

It ain't that hard ..... you were good at this with lesser QB's.

Brady knows where you're supposed to be, and if you're not there or you're covered too well, he'll find receiver B.

Loosen up, do what you do on the field, and you're going to make us forget about Randy Who? Go have a few beers with Wes, then get on a practice field alone with Tom and work out the timing.

You can do this.

"Though it’s possible that the stage in New England is too big for Ochocinco, it could be that Chad’s continuous effort to repress his nature in order to fit in with the Patriots has become a distraction. Instead of worrying about learning the offense and running the right routes and catching the ball naturally and instinctively, Chad could be carrying around unnecessary mental baggage as he tries to squeeze the square peg of his personality into the round hole of The Patriot Way."

Thank you Dr. Freud-lorio. I'm sure as a professional athlete that's all that has been running through his mind. Let's cue up a little Sammy Davis Jr. for Chad. because we all know, Chad's gotta be free, and he surely has "gotta be me".

SAMMY DAVIS JR.
"I've Gotta Be Me"
Whether I'm right or whether I'm wrong
Whether I find a place in this world or never belong
I gotta be me, I've gotta be me
What else can I be but what I am
I want to live, not merely survive
And I won't give up this dream
Of life that keeps me alive
I gotta be me, I gotta be me
The dream that I see makes me what I am
That far-away prize, a world of success
Is waiting for me if I heed the call
I won't settle down, won't settle for less
As long as there's a chance that I can have it all
I'll go it alone, that's how it must be
I can't be right for somebody else
If I'm not right for me
I gotta be free, I've gotta be free
Daring to try, to do it or die
I've gotta be me

Three things:

1. Ochocinco is making millions as an NFL wide receiver. Barring injuries or age, by now he should have been more than a one-catch-a-game receiver.

2. This isn't the Cincinnati Bengals, it's the New England Patriots. You get with the program, or you get out. Despite their recent lack of playoff success, most teams would kill to be like the Pats. The Bungles sure would!

3. Don't give me that "individuality" BS! Chad's a grown man. Time to start acting like one, little boy!
